Deco DesignWe custom made all of the kitchen cabinetry and shelving. The kitchen was a small area so maximizing usable space with function and design was crucial.
The transitional design features a pantry wall with the Sub Zero all glass door refrigerator and oven cabinet centered and equal size pantry cabinets to either side with 3 large storage drawers below and rollout shelves and work surfaces behind the door cabinets above in each with a hidden walk-in pantry door next to the Sub Zero. The cabinets on the range wall all have large storage drawers with wood organizers in the top drawer for spices and utensils. The client also wanted floating shelves to either side of the steel hood which were made from re-sawn maple to look like cut pieces from an old beam, each shelf is lit from the underside with LED flush mounted puck lights.
The island was our biggest challenge. It needed to house several appliances of different size, a farmhouse sink and be able to have function from all 4 sides and still have room for seating space on the backside. The sink side has the farmhouse sink centered with storage drawers to the right that feature wood organizers and a double middle drawer to help hold all the small utensils and still maintain the 3 drawer look from the front view that matches the integrated dishwasher to the left. The right side contains both the integrated soft close trash unit and an icemaker with a third false panel door to maintain the size balance for all three. The left side houses the Sub Zero undercounter freezer. I wanted the face to look like six equal sized drawers, which left the integrated drawer fronts for the freezer overlapping the side panel for the dishwasher. The back of the island has storage tucked up under the seating space. The quartz countertop meets up against the maple butcher block to create a stunning island top. All in all the end result of this kitchen is a beautiful space with wonderful function.
We finished the false beams in our exclusive hand-rubbed cappuccino stain.

Artisan Kitchens and BathsThis kitchen designed for the Junior League of Buffalo 2017 Decorator Showhouse was a full gut of the space.
There were plumbing and HVAC pipes in the space that required custom modifications to cabinetry. Part of the hearth has a false back on the cabinet to accommodate some of the pipes. Additionally, the 10’ ceilings required a custom combination of cabinets and crown molding to reach the ceiling.
The space contained 4 doorways so the use of angled cabinetry allowed for easier access in and out of the space.
The room includes special design features such as the wood hearth to house the ventilation for over the range, custom under cabinet lighting and a wet bar housing a beverage center and an appliance for growing microgreens.

univekHome Theatre project. Goal was to create a room that is for watch TV, movies and playing games. Room is approximately 14' x 18'. Key challenge was for gaming, i.e. Xbox Kinet and Wii, people's movement may get in the way of the projector. The solution was to use a short throw projector. The Benq 1085ST projector was used and there is < 6' of distance from the projector to the screen. The ottoman is movable and so is the seating (with large low friction pads underneath) to allow rearrange as needed. Room is finished off with acoustic panels (absorption on wall and ceiling with bass traps and diffuser in the back walls).
The theatre has Dolby Atmos 7.2.4 setup with 11 total speakers (Front Left, Centre, Front Right, Left and Right surround, Left and Right rear surround, Ceiling front left and right, Ceiling rear left and right, as well as 2 subwoofers. The false wall in the front hides the front left, centre, right and one of the subwoofers.

Pine T&G boards added to ceiling with false beams added for extra “WOW” factor.
Posts and interior false beams were topped with vinyl crown moldings and baseboards.
Custom exterior 1x4 shutters made on site.
PCA railing system installed.
Spar urethane was coated over the fresh pine ceiling and then exterior oil based paint was added to the new posts, moldings, and shutters to wrap it up.
JRML Associates, Inc.Built in 1930, the home, a magnificent reproduction of the Georgian architectural style, was
situated on a large property with mature landscaping, pool, and river views. The clients commissioned JRML to design a screened porch, requesting that the design harmonize with the existing architecture. The existing home featured a flat-roofed sun porch on its left side. For contrast, we decided on a gabled roof to enhance the effect of perspective from the oblique driveway approach, and natural lighting using skylights. Two wood-clad steel beams enabled the roof to span the entire length without interior support. For harmony, we painted the plywood white to match the existing sun porch, and for cost, limited the masonry to a skirt with exaggerated pilasters. For rhythm and variety, we introduced the arches into the linear composition of the false window band. The interior featured complementary millwork details. Removable screened panels with false meeting rails mimic windows. The beaded paneling expresses the ceiling’s linearity. Stamped concrete was specified for the floor for easy cleaning. The white interior of the screened porch allows the landscaping, pool, and water views to support the outdoor experience.

catlin stothers designThe option to downsize was not an option for the empty nesters who have lived in this home for over twenty-five years. Situated in TMR, the sprawling home has been the venue for many social events, dinner parties and family celebrations. With grown children living abroad, and grand children on the way, it was important that the new kitchen be highly functional and conducive to hosting informal, yet large family gatherings.
The kitchen had been relocated to the garage in the late eighties during a large renovation and was looking tired. Eight foot concrete ceilings meant the new materials and design had to create the illusion of height and light. White lacquered doors and integrated fridge panels extend to the ceiling and cast a bright reflection into the room. The teak dining table and chairs were the only elements to preserve from the old kitchen, and influenced the direction of materials to be incorporated into the new design. The island and selected lower cabinetry are made of butternut and oiled in a matte finish that relates to the teak dining set. Oversized tiles on the heated floors resemble soft concrete.
The mandate for the second floor included the overhaul of the master ensuite, to create his and hers closets, and a library. Walls were relocated and the floor plan reconfigured to create a luxurious ensuite of dramatic proportions. A walk-in shower, partitioned toilet area, and 18’ vanity are among many details that add visual interest and comfort.
Minimal white oak panels wrap around from the bedroom into the ensuite, and integrate two full-height pocket doors in the same material.

The owners desired a casual, relaxed elegance for their second home in this Pennsylvania ski resort. A new construction, this condominium features a Tuscan-style design in the main living space in its furnishings, rugs, artwork and decorative lighting. All furniture and furnishings for the condominium were new, selected by Randy. During construction, Randy provided guidance in making architectural specifications. To accommodate the client's desires for a fireplace in the master bedroom, Randy carefully coordinated with contractors to create the space needed for a fireplace by designing a false balcony on the opposite wall, which becomes a beautiful, unique focal point in the condominium.
