this young family wanted to updated their super traditional kitchen to better suit their families way of living. Adding the large hutch with beverage drawers created an area for the daily clutter to gather without ending up in the working area of the kitchen. The convenient walk in pantry gives tons of added storage area. The small bar between the kitchen and dining room allows for ease of entertaining. The formerly ho-hum powder room is now paneled and wallpapered and is truly a special moment off the family room.

English Tudor home that needed a new 2 car garage with bedroom above for a growing family. The owner was emphatic that the house not appear as if something was "just added on". It had to be a seamless addition. So meticulous care and time was taken to find bricks, materials and design elements to match what was on the existing home.

This beautiful, all-cedar privacy fence warmly welcomes visitors and keeps the eyes looking around the yard. The arbor extends over the patio to continue the green-black trim to better frame the white house. The HVAC units have been fenced in with a visual screen that lets airflow through - and the panels are removable for maintenance access. We also replaced the old planter boxes on the front windows.

The landscape design is inspired by the original home and it’s materials, especially the distinct, clean lines of the architecture and the natural, stone veneer found on the house and landscape walls. The outlines of garden beds, a small patio and a water feature reiterate the home’s straight walls juxtaposed against rough, irregular stone facades and details. This sensitivity to the architecture is clearly seen in the triangular shapes balanced with curved forms. The clients, a couple with busy lives, wanted a simple landscape with lawn for their dogs to fetch balls. The amenities they desired were a spa, vegetable beds, fire pit, and a water feature. They wanted to soften the tall, site walls with plant material. All the material, such as the discarded, stone veneer and left-over, flagstone paving was recycled into new edging around garden areas, new flagstone paths, and a water feature. The front entry walk was inspired by a walkway at Gunnar Asplund’s cemetary in Sweden. All plant material, aside from the turf, was low water, native or climate appropriate.
