This kitchen is a perfect example of a kitchen renovation on a budget. We were able to reuse the existing cabinets and updated the space with Saphire Blue granite and a porcelain tile backsplash from The Tile Store Inc. Incorporating an accent strip like this out of glass tile is a stylish yet economical option.

My client has been gardening for years. She asked me to help her fill in areas that were empty or skimpy. Much of her landscaping is perennials so my goal was to add structure through shrubs in areas that were mostly perennials. The shrubs compliment the perennials and provide winter interest. Some areas were empty but anchored by shrubs. In that instance I added perennials that were consistent with her colors, including repeating some already on site, and did well in the shade. We were able to divide some of her perennials on site to reduce the number of new plants that were needed.

The white oak risers and treads stand out against the crisp white stringers as the U-shaped staircase turns up the three levels of this Virginia home. The white oak is echoed in the railing as square chamfer-top newels support a post-to-post handrail system that forgoes traditional goosenecks for a cleaner architectural line. The satin black balusters add a custom, chic feel with their geometric pattern. The result is a stair system in balance, easy on the eye at every turn. Designing our 3rd home for this long-standing client was a real treat when she moved to a big, bright, newly built home in Celina. Being entrusted with every aspect from the floor to the ceiling, down to the last accessory we filled this home with color, comfort and casual elegance. The client was ready for some out of the box thinking and more progressive design ideas from where she’d been in the past. The moody media room, jewel box home office and color pops in the family room exemplify how a home can evoke many different emotions and represent all of the different styles that appeal to her. The backyard is now a relaxing paradise with covered lounging space, an expansive pool, a putting green and a firepit area for intimate fireside chats. Home is now the haven the client anticipated we would create for her and told us she has to sometimes pinch herself to remind her that all this is really hers!
