This outdated, dark and compartmentalized bathroom needed an update. The original layout separated a vanity and linen closet area from the sink, toilet and tub/shower. The wall between the spaces was removed to create one large open bathroom. The entire space was reconfigured to maximize space for a tub/shower, ample vanity, countertop, and storage and to create a much more open feel. A new window filters bright light throughout the bathroom, and a light color palette creates a fresh and calming feeling in the space. Watery blue green tile, blush pink walls, brushed brass fixtures, and marble accents create a luxury finished space.

Painting a dramatic color as an accent wall made the fireplace surround POP. The striking round, oversized mirror adds drama and light to the room. By placing the dining table on an angle, it gives a better view of the fireplace and fills the room better. Stationary window panels with lace sheers between them help to filter the light, add privacy while softening the hard surfaces of this room.

Another feature of this home is the incredible 600-bottle wine cellar on the first floor. Watson wanted this amenity to be a focal point for residents and guests, with large glass windows looking into the cellar from a hallway at the front of the house. Due to the delicate nature of wine and the need to protect the bottles from sunlight, this meant creating custom windows that would block the light while still allowing a view of the cellar from the outside. This wonderful traditional house is located on the edge of Hampton Bays and faces magnificent eastern water views. The room is flooded with early morning light so intense that medium to heavy sun screen shades were installed to filter the light diffusing but not blocking the view. A palate of neutral colors was assembled so that the bay view and beaches remained the focus of the room. The furniture plan as seen from the overhead picture divided the room into two comfortable seating areas. The large rug for budget purposes is made from broadloom carpet and detailed with a cut piled border. The rug is the background that visually hinges the two seating groups together. Each seating group has different furniture each have a ottoman with tray serving as a coffee table. The fine metal table behind the sofa allows flowers or other objects to be centrally displayed. The crimson red upholstered swivel chairs turn outward toward the scenic view. A tiered metal chandelier was hung from the highest ceiling height and adds intimacy to this large great room setting. The most important change to the architecture of the room was to remove the columns and replace them with a design of a series of arches integrated with the balustrade above visually creating more balance architectural appearance.
