More storage topped the wish list for this 1950's remodel. Since the homeowners both liked to cook, they need storage for their many small cooking appliances and large collection of spices, coffees and teas. The opening to the kitchen was widened, the back door was also replaced with a new wider dutch door, and a new raised Trex deck was added outside. Designed by Audry Cordero Jim Brady Photography

This Ranch Hacienda hillside estate boasts well over 13,000 square feet under roof. A loggia serves as the backbone for the design. Each space, both interior and exterior, has a direct response to the linear expression of outdoor space. The exterior materials and detailing are rustic and simple in nature. The mass and scale create drama and correspond to the vast desert skyline and adjacent majestic McDowell mountain views. Features of the house include a motor court with dual garages, a separate guest quarters, and a walk-in cooler. Silverleaf is known for its embodiment of traditional architectural styles, and this house expresses the essence of a hacienda with its communal courtyard spaces and quiet luxury. Designed for LEED compliance, the house is constructed with sustainable and non-toxic materials, and powered with alternative energy systems, including geothermal heating and cooling, photovoltaic (solar) electricity and a residential scale wind turbine. The original hall bath had vinyl flooring, a "Big Box" vanity and an acrylic tub. Now, a the walnut vanity and Carrara hexagon floor compliment the rich blue walls and brass fixtures. The dark grey grout enhanced the subway tile in the shower adding much needed interest to the shower.
