This was a total home remodel. The first floor of this home was completely gutted. The new owner wanted a first floor that was open and airy for entertaining with a few custom features. The living and dining room have a half wall with a built in stainless framed fireplace visible from both the dining area and the living room. The sitting room off the living area has a fieldstone fireplace as well as a custom bar, and the gallery style kitchen is visible from just about every corner of the first floor.

The adage “good things come in small packages” was never more true than in the remodeling of this home’s small bathrooms. First, a powder room was renovated with a dynamic three dimensional wall decorated with chipped marble. A wall hung pedestal sink and embedded lighting create an ultra-modern appeal.
A second floor bathroom was gutted and redesigned to allow for a large walk-in shower. Marble walls, a tile floor, a rain shower head and a glass entry provide a spa-like feel. A marble countertop adorned with a white furniture-quality vanity and improved lighting are additional highlights.
While they were at it, the homeowners also redid the mudroom to create additional storage, a bench and locker storage. The added counter and back splash above washer and dryer make doing laundry and folding a lot easier.

In this bathroom, the customer wanted to incorporate the laundry room into the space. We removed the existing tub and installed the washer and dryer area. We installed a Medallion Silverline White Icing Painted Lancaster Doors with feet Vanity with Bianca Luna Laminate countertops. The same countertop was used above the washer/dryer for a laundry folding station. Beaded Wall Panels were installed on the walls and Nafco Luxuary Vinyl Tile (Modern Slate with Grout Joint) was used for the flooring.

When the homeowners first purchased the 1925 house, it was compartmentalized, outdated, and completely unfunctional for their growing family. Casework designed the owner's previous kitchen and family room and was brought in to lead up the creative direction for the project. Casework teamed up with architect Paul Crowther and brother sister team Ainslie Davis on the addition and remodel of the Colonial.
The existing kitchen and powder bath were demoed and walls expanded to create a new footprint for the home. This created a much larger, more open kitchen and breakfast nook with mudroom, pantry and more private half bath. In the spacious kitchen, a large walnut island perfectly compliments the homes existing oak floors without feeling too heavy. Paired with brass accents, Calcutta Carrera marble countertops, and clean white cabinets and tile, the kitchen feels bright and open - the perfect spot for a glass of wine with friends or dinner with the whole family.
There was no official master prior to the renovations. The existing four bedrooms and one separate bathroom became two smaller bedrooms perfectly suited for the client’s two daughters, while the third became the true master complete with walk-in closet and master bath. There are future plans for a second story addition that would transform the current master into a guest suite and build out a master bedroom and bath complete with walk in shower and free standing tub.
Overall, a light, neutral palette was incorporated to draw attention to the existing colonial details of the home, like coved ceilings and leaded glass windows, that the homeowners fell in love with. Modern furnishings and art were mixed in to make this space an eclectic haven.

Addition and renovation of a vacation home in the hills of Heath
Massachusetts. The first floor of the home was extensively renovated
including a new kitchen, bath room and laundry room. Additions include a
breakfast nook, window bay, entry foyer, a two story screened porch and
most importantly; a 75 foot-long indoor lap pool.
The pool design is based on the upright wings of the airplane, as the owner
is an avid aviator as well as a tri-athlete. Large expanses of glass allow
natural light to stream into the year-round training space. Cedar siding
and extensive stone work ground the modern form of the building in the
natural landscape.

The gray and white master bath is the perfect timeless look for these homeowners.
Danby Honed Marble countertops were used with Kohler Devonshire under mount sinks. Tempesta Neve 8" x 20" marble tile was used on the bathroom floor.
Kohler Devonshire faucets and towel rings in polished chrome add the finished touch.
Plato prelude maple cabinets in a Shadow finish add the perfect contrast to the marble.
For extra sunlight a Velux Solar Powered Fresh Air Skylight was installed with an integrated rain sensor.

White-painted wainscoting and Sherwin Williams "Rainwashed" create a soothing combination for this first floor bath. The hexagon tile floor creates a charming farmhouse feel. The goose-neck fixture compliments the spacious pedestal sink.

The addition begins with exterior entry at ground level. A half stop down to the basement provides access to a “wheelchair wash/dog wash” station and game room. A half stop up brings the elevator to the first floor followed by traditional stops at the second floor and attic/owner’s suite.

Quintessentially Mid-Century, the kitchen sports cozy quarters. "Matthew and I laugh about this," jokes Bobbie. "We always said our next house would have a big gourmet kitchen and a big bathtub, [and] we have neither!" While the Fisher's might appreciate a little more wiggle room, they are in no hurry to make any drastic changes. The cabinetry is original. "When we first moved in, we thought we would definitely need to replace the two burner cook top with a four-burner, but we haven’t," she states. "The kitchen is surprisingly efficient."
