For those who enjoy the finer things in life, this home office has an old world feel with clean lines that offers a beautiful modern twist to this classic beauty. The bold wallpaper and fabric bulletin board create a striking focal point for the semi-custom desk and hutch. The contrasting finishes provide an inviting, yet dramatic air, welcoming the distinguished person who has stories to share of grand experiences and travel. Details such as the federal leg and heavier applied moldings on the doors imbed the feel of fine furniture into the cabinetry. But beyond style, this room includes the unique Desk Multi-Storage Drawer Cabinet. This cabinet has three drawers, each with a roll-out tray. The roll-out trays in the two bottom drawers are great for storing papers, while the top drawer's roll-out tray has dividers to keep pens and other smaller items in order. While It is no secret that the fondest memories are made when gathered around the table, everlasting memories are forged over the glowing heat of a stone fireplace. In the backyard of a home dating to 1910 in the Hudson Valley, a modest 250 square-foot outbuilding, at one time used as a bootleg moonshine distillery, and more recently as a bare bones man-cave, was given new life as a sumptuous home office replete with not only its own WiFi, but also abundant southern light brought in by new windows, bespoke furnishings, a double-height workstation, and a utilitarian loft. The original barn door slides open to reveal a new set of sliding glass doors opening into the space. Dark hardwood floors are a foil to crisp white defining the walls and ceiling in the lower office, and soft shell pink in the double-height volume punctuated by charcoal gray barn stairs and iron pipe railings up to a dollhouse-like loft space overhead. The desktops -- clad on the top surface only with durable, no-nonsense, mushroom-colored laminate -- leave birch maple edges confidently exposed atop punchy red painted bases perforated with circles for visual and functional relief. A welcoming living room off the front foyer is anchored by a stone fireplace in a custom blend for the home owner. A limestone mantle and hearth provide great perching spaces for the homeowners and accessories. All furniture was custom designed by Lenox House Design for the Home Owners. The clock is antique and was a wedding gift from the wife's father. It was made in Excelsior, MN.
