A radical remodel of a modest beach bungalow originally built in 1913 and relocated in 1920 to its current location, blocks from the ocean.
The exterior of the Bay Street Residence remains true to form, preserving its inherent street presence. The interior has been fully renovated to create a streamline connection between each interior space and the rear yard. A 2-story rear addition provides a master suite and deck above while simultaneously creating a unique space below that serves as a terraced indoor dining and living area open to the outdoors.

This front garden needed to make a link with the newly built contemporary home and its gorgeous view. The key was for the design not to compete with either. Strokes of three types of grass and textural interest and privacy while not distracting you from the main focus of the garden: the view!

Located in the Langley Fork Historic District in McLean, Virginia, this residence was designed to speak to the formal massing seen in the existing neighborhood fabric of stately traditional homes. The simplicity and clean lines of the stucco and limestone façade blends harmoniously with its surroundings. Traditional forms, interjected with modern twists, create a tension that carries throughout the design, creating a home that feels warm and familiar while clean and distilled at the same time. We were honored to work with CLB Architects on the Riverbend residence. The home is clad with our Blackened Hot Rolled steel panels giving the exterior an industrial look. Steel panels for the patio and terraced landscaping were provided by Brandner Design. The one-of-a-kind entry door blends industrial design with sophisticated elegance. Built from raw hot rolled steel, polished stainless steel and beautiful hand stitched burgundy leather this door turns this entry into art. Inside, shou sugi ban siding clads the mind-blowing powder room designed to look like a subway tunnel. Custom fireplace doors, cabinets, railings, a bunk bed ladder, and vanity by Brandner Design can also be found throughout the residence.
