Located in the Cornfield Point area of Old Saybrook along Long Island Sound, this project brought a classic, yet forgotten beach house back to life. Through a little detective work and some creative ingenuity, we restored and enhanced the exterior to it’s former glory and transformed the interior to a highly efficient and functional home all the while uplifting its quaint cottage charm. On the exterior, we recreated a wonderful, airy front porch with cozy bench seats that look out to the water. The white cedar shingle siding is pre-bleached with a subtle flair at the bottom and a delicate break at mid-elevation. The asphalt shingles are not only beautifully matched with the siding, but offer superior reflective qualities to dissipate the heat of the summer sun. On the interior, we joined the front seasonal porch with the family room to form a larger, open living and dining space with paneled walls and ceilings anchored by the original round stone fireplace. In the rear, we carefully crafted a galley kitchen and laundry space with an adjacent first floor master suite. The diminutive house and property posed multiple practical and regulatory challenges which were overcome by a strong team effort, due diligence, and a commitment to the process.

A warm, livable family home in Seattle’s Wedgwood neighborhood, thoughtfully designed to blend timeless charm with modern function, layered textures, and personality-filled, family-friendly details.
This serene kitchen features muted sage cabinetry, natural wood flooring, integrated appliances, and refined details, creating a calm, functional space with timeless style and family-friendly appeal.

This sophisticated bar area is a stunning balance of modern elegance and functional design. The deep grey cabinetry establishes a bold yet timeless foundation, beautifully contrasted by warm wood open shelves and rich gold fixtures. The striking 2" thick shelves not only add a statement but also provide a perfect showcase for curated décor and glassware.
A key design challenge was seamlessly complementing the warm wood flooring while maintaining a contemporary aesthetic. This was achieved through a carefully selected quartz countertop and full-height backsplash, which add a luxurious and cohesive touch. The upper cabinets with glass doors enhance storage while keeping the space visually open and airy.
This Crystal Current design maximizes storage without compromising on style. The thoughtful integration of a built-in beverage cooler, elegant hardware, and a layered lighting scheme elevates the space, making it both highly functional and visually striking.

Along the perimeter of the kitchen, there are many cabinets, which, on the one hand, make this room fully functional, and on the other hand, do not take up too much free space.
One of the most important functional areas of this kitchen is the island with two countertops and an undermount sink. To highlight this area, special lighting consisting of several beautiful pendant lamps is used.

Our studio reconfigured our client’s space to enhance its functionality. We moved a small laundry room upstairs, using part of a large loft area, creating a spacious new room with soft blue cabinets and patterned tiles. We also added a stylish guest bathroom with blue cabinets and antique gold fittings, still allowing for a large lounging area. Downstairs, we used the space from the relocated laundry room to open up the mudroom and add a cheerful dog wash area, conveniently close to the back door.

The laundry room may be one of the most functional spaces in the house, but that didn’t stop us from treating it like a design opportunity. In fact, we believe the most used spaces deserve the most love—and this one delivers.
A showstopping patterned tile from Haus Tile anchors the room with playful sophistication, echoing the circular motifs found throughout the home. Above, deep green Tedd Wood cabinetry offers ample storage, finished with oversized Atlas Dot knobs in brass that feel as chic as they are substantial.
We incorporated thoughtful additions like a hanging rod from Signature Hardware for air-drying clothes, a long quartz work surface in Cambria Inverness Gold for folding and sorting, and an ultra-durable Blanco Silgranit sink paired with a Kingston Brass wall-mounted faucet to keep things clean and stylish. Above, glass ribbed lights from West Elm add just the right amount of sparkle.

Wooden organizers help hold small utensils and keep everything from sliding around as the drawers are used.
We custom made all of the kitchen cabinetry and shelving. The kitchen was a small area so maximizing usable space with function and design was crucial.
The island was our biggest challenge. It needed to house several appliances of different size, a farmhouse sink and be able to have function from all 4 sides and still have room for seating space on the backside. The sink side has the farmhouse sink centered with storage drawers to the right that feature wood organizers and a double middle drawer to help hold all the small utensils and still maintain the 3 drawer look from the front view that matches the integrated dishwasher to the left. The right side contains both the integrated soft close trash unit and an icemaker with a third false panel door to maintain the size balance for all three. The left side houses the Sub Zero undercounter freezer. I wanted the face to look like six equal sized drawers, which left the integrated drawer fronts for the freezer overlapping the side panel for the dishwasher. The back of the island has storage tucked up under the seating space. The quartz countertop meets up against the maple butcher block to create a stunning island top.
All in all the end result of this kitchen is a beautiful space with wonderful function.
