A lovely Colonial revival in Larchmont NY was begging for a fresh start. Custom cabinetry by Studio Dearborn in a soft grey was fitted into the compact kitchen utilizing every inch of space. A muted palette keeps the space feeling light, allowing the colorful Le Creuset cookware to take center stage. Cast Iron Cook Stove La Nordica "Suprema Cream" Manufactured in northern Italy these cook stoves feature superb design, durability, efficiency, safety, and quality. The primary function of these appliances is indoor cooking however they also provide a significant source of secondary heat for your home. Keeping in mind that all wood heating stoves are space heaters this stove is capable of heating an open concept area of approx. 25x30 with 10`ceiling. Nevertheless the stove should not be relied upon as a primary source of heat. However it can totally be relied on as primary source for cooking! This particular model is called "Suprema" and is available in 2 colors: anthrathite black and matt cream. The fire chamber is located on the left and provides heat for both the baking oven on the right and the cooking top above. Once a foreclosure in shambles, this house was gutted and completely flipped into a gorgeous family home. This wall used to house the refrigerator and the double ovens. The old island has housed the cooktop. With the refrigerator now on the adjacent wall, the gas range sits serves as the focal point of this newly envisioned wall.

This large, custom kitchen has multiple built-ins and a large, cerused oak island. There is tons of storage and this kitchen was designed to be functional for a busy family that loves to entertain guests.

In this kitchen, everything starts with the uniquely painted cabinets. The light grey base is tinted with blue, and then a brown hand applied glaze is lightly brushed across the painted surface. This creates a painted look that stays true to modern form by incorporating linear movement. The glaze is barely noticeable, but adds to the overall feel of this space. The light grey and blue granite is paired with darker splash tile and accent pieces. The glass mosaic pieces are “dropped in” randomly throughout the splash. Behind the hood, the accent of the mosaic is placed in A-symmetrical precision. A-symmetrical lines are important in modern and contemporary spaces, but must have the correct balance and size for the space. The chrome pot filler is not only convenient, but offers a necessary form of balance when using A-symmetrical lines.
