LiLu Interiors joined a team of industry professionals to pioneer a net zero energy consumption home in Minnesota. And together, they have made efficiency and sustainability feel right at home. The stunning creation of this client’s dream into reality harnesses more than enough electricity to sustain an entire residence, while also powering two vehicles. Not only is the home energy efficient, all finish and furnishing selections—along with plumbing, lighting, and hardware—were chosen with a conscious effort toward conservation, aging in place, and providing a healthy living environment. The proposal analyzes the site as a series of existing flows or “routes” across the landscape. The negotiation of both constructed and natural systems establishes the logic of the site plan and the orientation and organization of the new home. Conceptually, the project becomes a highly choreographed knot at the center of these routes, drawing strands in, engaging them with others, and propelling them back out again. The project’s intent is to capture and harness the physical and ephemeral sense of these latent natural movements as a way to promote in the architecture the wanderlust the surrounding landscape inspires. The exquisite transformation of the kitchen in Silo Point Luxury Condominiums is a masterpiece of refinement—a testament to elegant design and optimized spatial planning. Jeanine Turner, the creative force behind Turner Design Firm, skillfully orchestrated this renovation with a clear vision—to harness and amplify the breathtaking views that the condominium's generous glass expanses offer from the open floor plan. Central to the renovation's success was the decisive removal of the walls that previously enclosed the refrigerator. This bold move radically enhanced the flow of the space, allowing for an uninterrupted visual connection from the kitchen through to the plush lounge and elegant dining area, and culminating in an awe-inspiring, unobstructed view of the harbor through the stately full-height windows. A testament to the renovation's meticulous attention to detail, the selection of the quartzite countertops resulted from an extensive and discerning search. Creating the centerpiece of the renovation, these breathtaking countertops stand out as a dazzling focal point amidst the kitchen's chic interiors, their natural beauty and resilience matching the aesthetic and functional needs of this sophisticated culinary setting. This redefined kitchen now boasts a seamless balance of form and function. The new design elegantly delineates the area into four distinct yet harmonious zones. The high-performance kitchen area is a chef's dream, with top-of-the-line appliances and ample workspace. Adjacent to it lies the inviting lounge, furnished with plush seating that encourages relaxation and conversation. The elegant dining space beckons with its sophisticated ambiance, while the charming coffee nook provides a serene escape for savoring a morning espresso or a peaceful afternoon read. Turner Design Firm's team member, Tessea McCrary, collaborated closely with the clients, ensuring the furniture selections echoed the homeowners' tastes and preferences, resulting in a living space that feels both luxurious and inviting.

Harnessing the power of 3D Architectural rendering abilities, OMNIA Architects’ delivered this finished conceptual design to our client, who wanted to modernize a dated residential seashore house, located in lovely Longport, New Jersey OMNIA designed both a new interior layout and a new exterior aesthetic. By rearranging the architectural living spaces, we ended up with an expanded, gourmet kitchen that was open to the primary living area. OMNIA Architects then doubled the size of the covered outdoor space and replaced the small patio doors with two full walls of folding glass Nana walls, Entering the home, one now sees through the foyer and out to the backyard with views of the bay. An inefficient, awkward utility area was enlarged by removing a rarely used back stair that accessed a small room over the garage. The new utility room features laundry, a second “beach” powder room and significant, thoughtful built-ins for dirty and clean towels, beach stuff and more. The room over the garage was reconfigured to be accessed from the main floor and the room enhanced to become a full suite. On the outside, new window patterns, more glass and new cladding create a sleek, modern new beach feel while ensuring minimum maintenance through the use of premium materials like Hardie Vertical Fiber Cement.

In this backyard space, the design challenge was to bring the essence of the California Mountains to Redondo Beach. As this client is an avid outdoorsman, he wanted to bring the a feel of the Sierra Nevada mountains, his happy place, home to create his very own backyard mountain retreat. Our team sourced materials that one would find in the mountains of California whilst keeping a lounge feel in mind for the secondary design criteria, a retreat. In this retreat, we created four distinct areas: the lounging area with covered pergola, fire pit area with built-in seating bench and overhead trellis complete with carnival lighting, central waterfall, and barbeque area with picnic table and overhead carnival lighting. We built a 10” x 10” rugged pergola was built out of sustainably sourced pine. The massive posts feel as though large pine trees were harvested right out of the California Mountains and crafted right on-site. The pergola was built with a retractable shade cloth so the sun can be let in for warmth in open during the colder months. The pergola and the other hard-scaped areas in the backyard were covered with a mix of gray granite and charcoal pavers. This color selection is reminiscent of the colors in California granite. Walking north from the pergola toward the fire pit area there is a mass planting of deer grasses, assortment of ferns and California coffee berries planted to mimic California Chaparral. At the other edge of this chaparral garden, sits the Cresta Boulder fire pit. Boulders were used to create this fire pit to harness the feeling of being outdoors in the wilderness. The boulders were locally sourced out of the Sierra Nevada mountain range for authenticity. In order to frame the space we installed a trellis and off the trellis runs carnival lights for night time parties. Just beyond the fire pit sits a granite boulder water fall. The waterfall is placed so that wherever you are in the yard you can see and hear the tranquil sounds of the babbling water as it circulates and recycles. The barbeque area is nestled against the backdrop of a dark green fernleaf podocarpus hedge. During the day, birds and butterflies traverse the native foliage and at night the sounds of the fire pit dance in harmony with the gentle sounds of water falling down granite pebbles making this backyard a true retreat from the chaotic noise of the city.

This modern farmhouse, designed by Robert Luchetti Associates, features hardwood trim harvested from the site, exposed fir beams, and soaring ceilings flooded in natural light. This energy efficient home conserves water, utilizes non-toxic, renewable materials, and harnesses solar energy. A beautiful example of sustainable living, this home achieved a Bronze certification in the North Carolina HealthyBuilt Homes Program.

This project had 3 layers of shingles and the original layer of shake. We removed all 4 layers, installed plywood decking, and a GAF Timberline HD Copper Canyon system with matching gutters. Safety is very important on a project like this. Anyone on this roof was wearing a safety harness at all times.
