Joe Fletcher Atop a ridge in the Santa Lucia mountains of Carmel, California, an oak tree stands elevated above the fog and wrapped at its base in this ranch retreat. The weekend home’s design grew around the 100-year-old Valley Oak to form a horseshoe-shaped house that gathers ridgeline views of Oak, Madrone, and Redwood groves at its exterior and nestles around the tree at its center. The home’s orientation offers both the shade of the oak canopy in the courtyard and the sun flowing into the great room at the house’s rear façades. This modern take on a traditional ranch home offers contemporary materials and landscaping to a classic typology. From the main entry in the courtyard, one enters the home’s great room and immediately experiences the dramatic westward views across the 70 foot pool at the house’s rear. In this expansive public area, programmatic needs flow and connect - from the kitchen, whose windows face the courtyard, to the dining room, whose doors slide seamlessly into walls to create an outdoor dining pavilion. The primary circulation axes flank the internal courtyard, anchoring the house to its site and heightening the sense of scale by extending views outward at each of the corridor’s ends. Guest suites, complete with private kitchen and living room, and the garage are housed in auxiliary wings connected to the main house by covered walkways. Building materials including pre-weathered corrugated steel cladding, buff limestone walls, and large aluminum apertures, and the interior palette of cedar-clad ceilings, oil-rubbed steel, and exposed concrete floors soften the modern aesthetics into a refined but rugged ranch home.

Our St. Pete studio gave this gorgeous home a beautiful makeover with a neutral color palette that nicely highlights the thoughtful design details. We added cottage-style barn doors for the bathroom giving it an elegant charm that heightens the stunning designs of the space. In the kitchen, we used the classic black and white theme, punctuated with organic elements like plants and wooden shelves that create a warm, lived-in feel. We added an attractive area rug in the dining room along with beautiful artwork and statement lighting to create visual interest. A unique and bold kitchen design for a contemporary penthouse in the heart of Harlem. This design was curated using a two-tone split between upper and base cabinets and merged together via a stunningly striking blended countertop. This color split allows the kitchen space to take advantage of the ambient lighting during the day while maintaining a slick look through fine details at all times.

The island bounded by the driveway and road has a steep slope. Erosion is kept in check with large boulders and plants like itea virginica that are well-know slope holders. With trees, shrubs, and perennials that bloom or show color at different times of year, the island has year-round interest for both people and wildlife. This is a really beautiful space using only a few colors. We wanted a big pop of color in this space, so we made the best use of the orange accent! We had fun doing different layers of molding to really help that out

Before purchasing their early 20th-century Prairie-style home, perfect in so many ways for their growing family, the parents asked LiLu whether its imperfections could be remedied. Specifically, they were sad to leave a kid-focused happy home full of color, pattern, texture, and durability thanks to LiLu. Could the new house, with lots of woodwork, be made brighter and lighter? Of course. In the living areas, LiLu selected a high-gloss turquoise paint that reflects light for selected cabinets and the fireplace surround; the color complements original handmade blue-green tile in the home. Graphic floral and abstract prints, and furnishings and accessories in lively shades of pink, were layered throughout to create a bright, playful aesthetic. Elsewhere, staircase spindles were painted turquoise to bring out their arts-and-craft design and heighten the abstract wallpaper and striped runner. Wallpaper featuring 60s-era superheroes, metallic butterflies, cartoon bears, and flamingos enliven other rooms of the house. In the kitchen, an orange island adds zest to cream-colored cabinets and brick backsplash. Heightened 10’ceilings grace the 1st floor and impressive features throughout include stylish trim and ceiling details. The elegant Dining Room to the front of the home features a tray ceiling and craftsman style wainscoting with chair rail. Adjacent to the Dining Room is a formal Living Room with cozy gas fireplace. The open Kitchen is well-appointed with HanStone countertops, tile backsplash, stainless steel appliances, and a pantry. The sunny Breakfast Area provides access to a stamped concrete patio and opens to the Family Room with wood ceiling beams and a gas fireplace accented by a custom surround. A first-floor Study features trim ceiling detail and craftsman style wainscoting. The Owner’s Suite includes craftsman style wainscoting accent wall and a tray ceiling with stylish wood detail. The Owner’s Bathroom includes a custom tile shower, free standing tub, and oversized closet.

This hillside home combines stucco, stone, and cedar shakes for exceptional craftsman character. A dramatic cathedral ceiling heightens the open living room with central fireplace and built-ins. Porches flank the living room to allow its rear wall of windows uninterrupted views of the outdoors. The two rear porches are entered through the dining room and master bedroom, while the breakfast and dining rooms enjoy screened porch access. The master bedroom is topped by a tray ceiling and features a lovely private bath and walk-in closet. A versatile bedroom/study and full bath are nearby. Downstairs are two more bedrooms, each with an adjacent covered patio, another full bath, and a generous family room with fireplace.

Quick and easy update with to a full guest bathroom we did in conjunction with the owner's suite bathroom with Landmark Remodeling. We made sure that the changes were cost effective and still had a wow factor to them. We did a luxury vinyl plank to save money and did a tiled shower surround with decorative feature to heighten the finish level. We also did mixed metals and an equal balance of tan and gray to keep it from being trendy.
