This charming whole house remodel focuses on renovations to the home's basement, primary suite, main level, and upper level. 100+ year old reclaimed beams in the kitchen and dining room compliment the natural hues of the stone fireplace to create a rustic, French cottage inspired atmosphere. Brass accents pair with contrasting black and white design elements throughout the home for a balanced element of modernity and elegance in this cozy, inviting home. Darker elements such as sleek black detailing in the primary suite, black window frames, and jet mist granite countertops in the kitchen compliment the lighter elements of white cabinetry, bathroom subway tile, and simple trim, creating feel of continuity and unique design in each room.

This Craftsman style kitchen displays warm earth tones between the cabinetry and various stone details. Richly stained quartersawn red oak cabinetry in a shaker door style feature simple mullion details and dark metal hardware. Slate backsplash tiles, granite countertops, and a marble sink complement each other as stunning natural elements. Mixed metals bridge the gap between the historical Craftsman style and current trends, creating a timeless look.

A cottage room was created in the lower level bedroom - mimicking the screen porch of the original cottage on the property. We patterened the scalloping from the eaves, removed an original window and custom framed it here and applied glass behind, duplicated the board and batten siding and added Norwegian accents to play up the family heritage. Not seen in the pictures is the 2 single beds on the opposite side of the room - so 6 people can sleep comfortably in this spacious space.

Located on the flat of Beacon Hill, this iconic building is rich in history and in detail. Constructed in 1828 as one of the first buildings in a series of row houses, it was in need of a major renovation to improve functionality and to restore as well as re-introduce charm.Originally designed by noted architect Asher Benjamin, the renovation was respectful of his early work. “What would Asher have done?” was a common refrain during design decision making, given today’s technology and tools.

This light-filled hallway creates a striking transition between spaces with floor-to-ceiling steel windows framing views of the surrounding landscape. A vaulted, painted ceiling with exposed beams enhances the architecture’s airy charm, while the textured brick walls bring warmth and authenticity. The bold red runner provides a pop of color and grounding contrast, and lantern-style fixtures add a touch of classic sophistication. Every element of this gallery-style corridor celebrates natural light, texture, and proportion—a perfect reflection of Heritage Haus’ refined yet welcoming aesthetic.

This quaint little house is painted in Benjamin Moore Blue Note for all the stucco and downspouts; while the trim, entry doors (except front), and the metal awnings are in Cloverdale Paint Satin Weave. Just two colours, white and navy, this house is cute and simple.
