Traditional design is tempered for today’s lifestyle in this stunning kitchen. Custom Bilotta cabinetry with 1” doors exudes elegance with its flush inset construction and a clean-lined stepped Shaker door. “Repose Gray” by Sherwin Williams departs from omnipresent white, yet still maintains a bright ambiance, which is reinforced by natural while oak flooring.
A furniture appearance is accomplished by extending some base cabinet stiles into delicate legs. Tapered legs on the island create a “table” for casual meals. Appliances and the hood vent are paneled for a cohesive image. Taking the cabinets to the ceiling maximizes space. The range area has glass upper sections, while the countertop cabinet to the left of the window becomes a glass-fronted hutch. Emphasizing the kitchen’s traditional roots are an apron-front sink, marble countertops, and herringbone marble backsplashes.
Though the room isn’t massive, it packs a lot of function. There’s space for a 48” range, a prep sink, and even refrigerator drawers adjacent to the stools. A contemporary glass and walnut table anchors the breakfast area, which includes a planning desk with white oak floating shelves. Brushed brass hardware, plumbing fixtures, stool bases and lighting bring an up-to-date touch with their modern finishes and forms.

This breathtaking kitchen remodel strikes the perfect balance between timeless traditional elegance and modern culinary functionality. The result is a bright, airy chef's kitchen that feels simultaneously grand and warmly livable — a space the whole family gravitates toward.
The design is anchored by crisp white inset-style cabinetry with polished nickel hardware that runs floor to ceiling, maximizing every inch of storage while creating a cohesive, custom built-in aesthetic. The standout feature is the two-tone treatment: upper perimeter cabinets in a clean bright white contrast beautifully against the large central island dressed in a sophisticated warm gray, adding depth and visual interest without disrupting the room's airy palette.
Countertops throughout are a show-stopping Calacatta-style quartz, featuring dramatic gray veining on a bright white ground — lending the look of natural marble with the durability of engineered stone. The oversized island provides abundant prep space, seating for four along a generous overhang, and a farmhouse-style undermount sink with a polished nickel bridge faucet.
The statement-making custom range hood commands the cooking wall, flanked by stacked glass-front upper cabinets that showcase colorful ceramics as living decor. Behind the professional-grade gas range, a layered backsplash tells a tile story: classic white subway tile anchors the field, while a striking marble herringbone mosaic creates a focal tile mural directly behind the hood — a detail that reads as pure artistry. A wall-mounted pot filler in polished nickel adds both practicality and old-world charm.
Three oversized geometric polished nickel pendant lanterns hang from the tray ceiling, drawing the eye up while flooding the space with ambient light. The kitchen flows seamlessly into a sun-drenched breakfast room wrapped in plantation shutters and blue-and-white toile valances, where a warm wood round dining table grounds the casual dining area.
A dedicated butler's pantry niche off the main kitchen provides an integrated wine cooler, glass-front display cabinetry, a herringbone marble backsplash, and a dedicated coffee station — a self-contained entertaining hub that keeps the main kitchen surfaces clear and serene.

Creating a space to entertain was the top priority in this Mukwonago kitchen remodel. The homeowners wanted seating and counter space for hosting parties and watching sports. By opening the dining room wall, we extended the kitchen area. We added an island and custom designed furniture-style bar cabinet with retractable pocket doors. A new awning window overlooks the backyard and brings in natural light. Many in-cabinet storage features keep this kitchen neat and organized.
Bar Cabinet
The furniture-style bar cabinet has retractable pocket doors and a drop-in quartz counter. The homeowners can entertain in style, leaving the doors open during parties. Guests can grab a glass of wine or make a cocktail right in the cabinet.
Outlet Strips
Outlet strips on the island and peninsula keeps the end panels of the island and peninsula clean. The outlet strips also gives them options for plugging in appliances during parties.
Modern Farmhouse Design
The design of this kitchen is modern farmhouse. The materials, patterns, color and texture define this space. We used shades of golds and grays in the cabinetry, backsplash and hardware. The chevron backsplash and shiplap island adds visual interest.
Custom Cabinetry
This kitchen features frameless custom cabinets with light rail molding. It’s designed to hide the under cabinet lighting and angled plug molding. Putting the outlets under the cabinets keeps the backsplash uninterrupted.
Storage Features
Efficient storage and organization was important to these homeowners.
We opted for deep drawers to allow for easy access to stacks of dishes and bowls.
Under the cooktop, we used custom drawer heights to meet the homeowners’ storage needs.
A third drawer was added next to the spice drawer rollout.
Narrow pullout cabinets on either side of the cooktop for spices and oils.
The pantry rollout by the double oven rotates 90 degrees.
Other Updates
Staircase – We updated the staircase with a barn wood newel post and matte black balusters
Fireplace – We whitewashed the fireplace and added a barn wood mantel and pilasters.

A spacious colonial in the heart of the waterfront community of Greenhaven still had its original 1950s kitchen. A renovation without an addition added space by reconfiguring, and the wall between kitchen and family room was removed to create open flow. A beautiful banquette was built where the family can enjoy breakfast overlooking the pool. Kitchen Design: Studio Dearborn. Interior decorating by Lorraine Levinson. All appliances: Thermador. Countertops: Pental Quartz Lattice. Hardware: Top Knobs Chareau Series Emerald Pulls and knobs. Stools and pendant lights: West Elm. Photography: Jeff McNamara.

We installed this custom designed backsplash which uses natural travertine tile. 6" x 6" tile is throughout the kitchen, and then a multi-level herringbone pattern is over the range.

When my clients purchased this charming 1940's home in the Seattle neighborhood of Wedgwood, they were amazed by how intact the original kitchen was. It was like a perfect time capsule. The color palette was avocado green and buttercream yellow. The highlights were an original retro built-in banquette and vintage oven! The challenge we faced (besides the awesome but dated finishes) was the closed floor plan typical in this era of homes and the lack of storage. So, we opened the kitchen to the adjacent dining and living room, bringing it up to speed with modern-day living. In opening it up, we also walled off a doorway that went from the kitchen to the hallway, but it was completely unnecessary and allowed us to gain an entire wall of cabinets that didn't exist previously.
For the finishes, we kept it classic with mostly gray and white but brought in a little flare and interest with the herringbone backsplash and brushed brass finishes because who doesn't love a little gold? Also, we added color with the finishing details like the rug and countertop decor because those things are a great way to add interest and warmth to a space and can be easily changed when it's time for a fresh new look.

The backsplash is white subway tile. The framed out area over the range is the same white subway tile installed in a herringbone pattern. To learn more about the tile contact Garden State Tile Philadelphia! (We ship nationwide)

This gray and white family kitchen has touches of gold and warm accents. The Diamond Cabinets that were purchased from Lowes are a warm grey and are accented with champagne gold Atlas cabinet hardware. The Taj Mahal quartzite countertops have a nice cream tone with veins of gold and gray. The mother or pearl diamond mosaic tile backsplash by Jeffery Court adds a little sparkle to the small kitchen layout. The island houses the glass cook top with a stainless steel hood above the island. The white appliances are not the typical thing you see in kitchens these days but works beautifully.

Everything you need to feel right at home. The grey and white colour scheme adds subdued elegance to the intricately designed island and classic shaker style cabinets. The subway tile backsplash offsets the black bordered glass front cabinets, which combine with the hanging pendants above the island to create a soft glow. The apron sink, hood fan and range, inset wine rackand fridge tower add a modern flair to the traditional design of this space.

In the foreground sits one of the two espresso stained islands of this kitchen. Its counter surface is Carrera marble. The surrounding cabinets are white with crown molding and Lagos Blue Caesarstone to complete the traditional look. The backsplash consists of beige herringbone and subway ceramic glazed tiles.
The 48" Viking range is a prominent feature.
