The complete renovation of this existing single-family home took the existing structure down to the studs. The addition of a new wood-clad box and cantilevered roof mark the entrance. Smooth stucco, large-format tile, a standing-seam metal roof and black aluminum windows and doors complete the material palette. The challenge of a receding ground plane at the rear of the house is met with a stadium-seating style deck which graciously engages with the large back yard.

Featuring multiple star systems, this home is designed around its observatory tower. A straight run stair connects the main home to the tower, featuring custom millwork that preserves the open sightlines. The tower itself houses a wooden spiral stair with white oak treads seamlessly integrated into the metal structure. A switchback stair with coordinating white oak and wrought iron balusters rounds out the design.

Engineered hand-scraped maple in a wide plank.
It’s a first for Epic — a 7"-wide format, for today’s most on-trend hardwood look! Add hand scraping — grooved and chattered with a great deal of character — and you have a stunning style in much-loved maple.
• Multi-step staining process — each color layer hand-rubbed — gives a rich, deep color saturation with beautiful variation within each plank.
• Lustrous satin finish — for a warm, elegant look.
• Offered in an array of colors — from light neutrals to rich, saturated tones.
• Stellar advantages of Epic with EnviroCore: harder-densergreener, extremely eco-friendly, easy to install, breathtaking styles, and outstanding performance.

Rustic Farmhouse: Garvin-Weeks Farmstead
The Garvin-Weeks Farmstead in beautiful North Reading, built c1790, has enjoyed a first floor makeover complete with a new kitchen, family room and master suite. Particular attention was given to preserve the historic details of the house while modernizing and opening up the space for today’s lifestyle. The open concept farmhouse style kitchen is striking with its antique beams and rafters, handmade and hand planed cabinets, distressed floors, custom handmade soapstone counter and farmer’s sink, kitchen island comprised of reclaimed wood and marble top all setting the stage for the elaborate custom painted tile work. Skylights above bathe the space in natural light. Walking through the warm family room gives one the sense of history and days gone by, culminating in a quintessential looking, but fabulously updated new England master bedroom and bath. A spectacular addition that feels and looks like it has always been there!
