Inspiration for a cottage laundry room remodel in Salt Lake City

This 1930’s gem did not have a functional, beautiful kitchen. In fact, many cabinets barely opened, and some appliances didn’t even work. The top priority was to replace the cabinetry, appliances, and finishes in the main kitchen and butler’s pantry for better functionality. The original footprint was kept mostly intact, with only minor adjustments to improve flow, connectivity, and layout. Custom cabinetry was designed to enhance storage, and a suite of high-performance appliances was installed. Finishes like a herringbone tile floor and soapstone countertops were chosen for longevity and durability. The secondary goal was to match the beauty of the rest of the home, with traditional elements, symmetry, and warmth. Details like fluting on the range hood and a unique corbel shape mirror original moldings. Stained oak accents were color-matched to the home’s existing woodwork. White oak cabinet interiors and custom inserts create a furniture-like feel. The finished design blends seamlessly into the historic home, and also enhances functionality for day-to-day living, hosting, and gathering.

We removed an awkwardly shaped walk in pantry with 2 cabinet pantries. One is for food and the other for small appliances and larger bakeware. This storage is more accessible and creates a fluid design for the appliance wall. The large island in this kitchen serves as a gathering and dining space for family and friends. Ample storage and work surface provide the home owners a highly functioning kitchen. The tall crown molding is beautiful and functional with HVAC tucked inside and pendant lights by Visual Comfort add a touch of modern luxury to this traditionally based kitchen.

This sophisticated bar area is a stunning balance of modern elegance and functional design. The deep grey cabinetry establishes a bold yet timeless foundation, beautifully contrasted by warm wood open shelves and rich gold fixtures. The striking 2" thick shelves not only add a statement but also provide a perfect showcase for curated décor and glassware. A key design challenge was seamlessly complementing the warm wood flooring while maintaining a contemporary aesthetic. This was achieved through a carefully selected quartz countertop and full-height backsplash, which add a luxurious and cohesive touch. The upper cabinets with glass doors enhance storage while keeping the space visually open and airy. This Crystal Current design maximizes storage without compromising on style. The thoughtful integration of a built-in beverage cooler, elegant hardware, and a layered lighting scheme elevates the space, making it both highly functional and visually striking.

Since we wanted this nursery to be mostly neutral with some pastel accents, I opted for unpainted, natural wood furniture paired with white for an eclectic feel and decided on these great pieces from Oeuf. A wood beaded pendant hangs from the ceiling and mirrors the natural vibe. The crib bedding is super simple with just a patterned sheet.
