As a part of a larger transformation, the kitchen served as an anchor for rethinking how the home could feel and function. The goal was to create a space that felt truly integrated, flowed naturally within itself, and connected seamlessly to the outdoors. Storage was a top priority, with an emphasis on keeping countertops clean and the space feeling calm and open. Flow was equally important. What began as a layout optimized for entertaining evolved into a more intentional approach, where every sightline and transition was thoughtfully considered. The clients also needed the kitchen to work hard for their lifestyle, with a commercial-size refrigerator and freezer, generous prep space, and room to gather. The challenge was to bring purpose and polish to a space that didn’t quite feel like it belonged. The result is a kitchen that’s not only highly functional but finally feels like part of the home.
Project challenges:
- Maximizing storage was a primary challenge, especially with the inclusion of a commercial-sized fridge and freezer that occupied valuable cabinetry space.
- The need for clean, uninterrupted lines throughout the kitchen required thoughtful detailing, especially around cabinetry transitions and appliance integration.
- The oversized island design required two stone slabs and waterfall edges on both sides which posed both visual and logistical challenges.
- Incorporating electrical outlets into the island in a way that felt intentional and unobtrusive demanded creative problem-solving.
- The unique rooflines created strong visual angles that required a considered design approach to ensure the space felt cohesive rather than disjointed.
- Balancing symmetry and flow in a kitchen with structural constraints required precise layout planning to maintain a cohesive visual rhythm.
- Creating an intentional indoor/outdoor living flow, especially in the transitional space between the sliding doors to the backyard and the kitchen.
Project solutions:
- To balance the visual weight of the commercial-grade fridge and freezer, we flanked the range and hood with full-height pocket cabinetry, which created symmetry while reclaiming storage space. We also took a look into internal organization and carefully mapped out where every kitchen item would live. This allowed us to make informed decisions about drawer versus door configurations, and when to incorporate features like roll-out shelving to maximize accessibility and function.
- Linear light fixtures above the island were chosen for their low visual impact, allowing sightlines to remain clear and emphasizing the thoughtful spatial layout.
- The oversized island was carefully executed using two coordinated slabs, with a subtle brass inlay detail between them to turn a logistical challenge into a design feature.
- Pop-up electrical outlets were integrated into the island to keep surfaces clutter-free while maintaining easy access, which combined form and function seamlessly.
- With multiple focal points and a peaked vaulted ceiling, layout precision was key. The island, hood, and adjacent staircase were all perfectly centered on the vault, creating a sense of alignment across the open space.
- In the transitional area between kitchen and backyard, we added a wet bar that visually and functionally connects the indoor space with the outdoors. This addition provides extra storage and creates a dedicated entertainment spot for guests, enhancing the overall flow and usability of the home.

These Hanover, MA clients came to Renovisions as they wanted a local design-build company to rework and expand their small and outdated 1980’s colonial kitchen.
We collaborated and created an expanded 12’x15’ addition space to accommodate a newly designed kitchen which is now 21’x15’. Before we began with the construction process, proper structural engineering presented a challenge as the property was built on ledge. As expected, we determined that several concrete supports were necessary and needed to be built to support the expanded structure.
Our plan included both creative aesthetic and functional layout modifications to transform this ordinary kitchen into a spacious, well-lit, highly functional, stylish and welcoming space to cook, gather and entertain. The bump-out allowed for more functional cabinetry and a dining table which before was placed in a corner of the previous cramped kitchen. Now, there is a wide open space from the adjacent living room and a clear path to a 5’ French door opening to the pool deck. The homeowners also elected for us to extend a new roof over their existing deck creating a nice shaded space to entertain guests.
The island, which serves as the central gathering spot. is eye catching with contrasting dark cocoa colored cabinets and stunning natural looking Cambria quartz countertops. Large, easily accessible deep drawers provide much needed storage for pots, pans and lids as well as expansive countertop space for everyday prep and family get-togethers.
Overall, the clients were thrilled with their Renovision and cannot wait to throw a party to show off their stunning kitchen.
“There is not a single choice we aren’t happy with; it is so us! I love all of the storage and I have a feeling we are going to do a lot of entertaining this summer.”
“Dear Cathy and Ed, We are abundantly grateful for the entire Renovisions Team that have provided us with a beautiful kitchen and porch to enjoy. We will continue to make family memories for many years to come with this new addition. From the first time we met with you at the showroom, we were confident that high quality workmanship would go into our new construction. Mike, Brad, and Tom were very trustworthy and worked very hard every day they were on the job site. They were very flexible and always put the homeowners safety first. They even offered a bit of comic relief! Every night the site was cleaned meticulously, never leaving tools or sharp edges of any sort in the open space. We were also very pleased with the help offered when designing and choosing cabinets, tile and other finishes. Liz was always very helpful and patient to answer questions when we came by the showroom. We are extremely pleased with all the choices and on a daily basis we enjoy the warmth and amazing space it provides.
We recently hosted a retirement party for 70 people and it never felt crowed! We relax under the covered porch in the morning for coffee, the afternoon for lunch and to watch the grandkids in the pool. And of course in the evening while we read or catch up on emails. It is an amazing space! Thank you all again, for your hard work and passion for your craftsmanship. We will be in touch soon to set up a date for you all to drop by to see the finishing touches and to enjoy refreshments.”

Built by Schumacher Homes, America's Largest Custom Home Builder, this stunning Olivia Modern Farmhouse model home in Columbus, Ohio, effortlessly balances classic rustic architecture with contemporary modern design elements. True to the philosophy that the kitchen is the heart of the home, this open-concept culinary space integrates the latest high-end residential design trends, anchored by a huge central kitchen island featuring comfortable seating on two sides. Thoughtfully designed for family lifestyle connectivity, the kitchen sink offers clear, sweeping views directly out into the backyard. Maximizing daily efficiency, the layout includes a massive, multi-functional combined walk-in pantry and laundry room utility zone. The main level is highlighted by a grand great room that boasts a dramatic cathedral ceiling accented by two striking architectural truss beams, while a soaring wall of windows floods the entire living area with abundant natural light.
Tucked away for ultimate privacy, the primary suite features an enhanced four-foot owner's bath addition, creating a private, spa-like retreat complete with dual vanities and a luxury layout. Upstairs, an oversized 18' x 12' second-story loft serves as a versatile bonus room and a terrific second gathering place for family and friends. The upper level also includes a highly functional Jack and Jill bathroom connecting the secondary bedrooms, ensuring a smooth, conflict-free morning routine for a busy household. Seamlessly blending high-demand modern farmhouse curb appeal with a spacious, light-filled interior, this customizable floor plan provides exceptional custom home inspiration for modern family living.

We achieved much better function for cooking and storage as well as bringing more natural light and updated lighting to the kitchen. The old layout was a struggle with fragmented storage spread out around the kitchen. It was difficult for two people to be in the kitchen at the same time and it didn’t flow well when cooking as the island was positioned as an obstacle on one end near the stove. The ceilings are high, and original wall cabinets were low with a soffit above them and this made the kitchen look dated. The new wall cabinets include transom cabinets and take full advantage of the high ceiling. By reconfiguring a soffit over the windows, we were able to include a transom window that brings more light into the kitchen. The client was careful about making decisions and took a long time to go through our process because any other project they hired someone to do in the past felt too rushed and they always had regrets and buyer's remorse after. We took our time and it was well worth it.The cabinets are Plato cabinets, full inset. The island top and wall inset behind the stove are special features-the stone is Blue Fusion Quartzite while the perimeter is Silestone Tebas Black. The new space is more beautiful, bright and has high function for the client's lifestyle in the kitchen.

This kitchen renovation project combines modern functionality with classic farmhouse charm to create a warm and inviting culinary space. The room features custom cabinetry painted in a soft beige hue, lending a serene and cohesive look to the entire kitchen. The cabinets are complemented by sleek, modern hardware that adds a subtle touch of sophistication.
A standout feature of this kitchen is the expansive countertop, crafted from a rich, textured material that provides ample space for meal preparation and entertaining. The countertops are paired with a stylish apron-front sink, enhancing the farmhouse aesthetic while ensuring practical utility.
The kitchen boasts state-of-the-art stainless steel appliances, seamlessly integrated into the cabinetry for a streamlined appearance. The large double-door refrigerator and professional-grade gas range are both high-performing and visually striking, ensuring the kitchen is as functional as it is beautiful.
Natural light floods the space through three large windows adorned with charming café curtains, creating a bright and airy atmosphere. Pendant lights hang gracefully above the sink area, providing both task lighting and a decorative element that ties the design together.
A handwoven area rug in soft, muted tones adds warmth and texture to the dark hardwood flooring, further enhancing the inviting feel of the kitchen. Open shelving units and cleverly placed nooks offer additional storage and display opportunities, allowing for a personalized touch with decor and kitchen essentials.
Overall, this kitchen renovation project successfully marries timeless farmhouse elements with modern design features, resulting in a space that is both aesthetically pleasing and highly functional.

After – Bedrooms, Closets & Common Areas Renovation: Bright, Modern, and Unified
This image shows the transformation of the bedrooms, closets, and common areas after a full renovation. All spaces received fresh paint, new flooring, baseboards, doors, trims, handles, and updated lighting. A light-toned, continuous vinyl floor was installed throughout the entire home to create a seamless flow and a greater sense of space.
Soft, neutral wall colors and cohesive materials were carefully selected to give the home a clean, modern, and “brand new” feel—making it brighter, more spacious, and highly functional for everyday living.

Our latest project involved a complete kitchen overhaul for a family looking to create an open, functional space that seamlessly blends modern and rustic elements. By modifying the wall separating the kitchen and living room, we opened up the area and then custom-designed the cabinet depth behind the new high-top seating area, allowing us to install a small but highly functional island with a built-in microwave. They went with our Amesbury III door style from our Kitchen Solvers Legacy Collection in Stratus SuperMatte for the upper cabinets and Rustic Light Oak for the lowers. Next, we installed a new gray Lagoon Quartz countertop paired with a subway pattern Eurasia-Chiara Glazed Porcelain backsplash. The transitional design brings together white and wood tones, creating a warm yet contemporary look. The homeowners are thrilled with their new kitchen, especially the island and high-top counter that have become the heart of their home. Now, they spend more time together as a family in this beautifully transformed space.

USI Design & Remodeling reimagined the home's interior architecture, transforming a collection of compartmentalized rooms into a cohesive environment designed for modern living, entertaining, and daily comfort. The project encompassed the kitchen, family room, dining room, lounge, office, primary bathroom, and supporting circulation spaces, creating a unified experience that feels both expansive and intentional.
At the heart of the renovation is a completely reconfigured kitchen and gathering space designed around functionality, hospitality, and visual connection. Architectural barriers were removed to improve sightlines and circulation, allowing the kitchen, dining, and family spaces to function as a single integrated living environment. Adjacent to the kitchen, the former pantry, laundry, and service corridor were reimagined as a hybrid scullery and utility suite, creating a highly functional support space that discreetly accommodates food preparation, storage, organization, and household operations without compromising the elegance of the primary living areas.
