This client’s outdoor courtyard came with a number of interesting challenges—including limited access, structural hurdles, and existing landscape design. The D. A. Dunlevy team built a custom ramp to create ingress from the street, allowing us to bring in all of the materials and plantings.The courtyard has been transformed into a private, tucked-away place for the owners to relax with morning coffee, escape with a good book, or provide an overflow area for visiting guests. The design remained sympathetic to existing architecture and landscaping, utilizing black granite stepping stones and other elements to create cohesion. Clean lines were established with a modern custom bench and stone planter wall. The greenery was chosen to create a simple and structured feel, using narrow European Hornbeam trees for an aerial hedge and adding in boxwoods, nandina, hellebores, and creeping Jenny to round out the verdant, calming effect.

Lori Delisle Interior Design & DecoratingThis family home was overwhelmed by oversized furniture, floor to ceiling storage units filled with clutter, piles of storage boxes, dark walls, and an overall feeling of disorganization. shop renovation working under tight timelines, no plumbing or electricity and restricted access. Our team not only completed the project on time and met budget expectations, but our client and Richmond Centre. Landlord were left impressed with our work ethic, project management and the final result.
REDinteriorOn this remodel, my biggest challenge/goal was to ensure that the kitchen looked like one space. This was challenging because we expanded the kitchen into the dining space that had a 3' ceiling height difference and windows that we didn't want to cover. To overcome this hurdle, I designed a hanging soffit that was supported by oil rubbed bronze rods, which created a lighter look and allowed the light from the windows to be unobstructed.

Biggest hurdle here was ensuring the rough-in wiring was at the perfect height and that the spacing was perfect when everything was installed. I think we nailed it!

Wood AnchorThis almighty Oak staircase was one of our more challenging ones to build and install but we pulled it off!
The first hurdle was installing the treads (from the top) onto the central post which was difficult with the extremely heavy 4″ thick solid Oak treads.
The staircase was finished off with our custom designed steel hand railing which required a large amount of onsite welding. The result is a staircase that has to be seen in situ to get a sense of its impressive stature!

We designed these stairs with a lot of influence from the client as they liked the industrial look with exposed steel. We stuck with a minimalistic design which included grip tread at the top and a solid looking balustrade. One of the staircases is U-shaped, two of the stairs are L-shaped and one is a straight staircase. One of the biggest obstacles was accessing the space, so we had to roll everything around on flat ground and lift up with a spider crane. This meant we worked closely alongside the builders onsite to tackle any hurdles.
