As with many homes, a lack of useful closet space was a real problem for these homeowners. After the decision to build an addition for a closet was made, the design of the master bathroom was next. New vanities, granite countertops, mirrors, and tile flooring were changed to match the level of the new closet. Upon completion of the master suite the homeowners were left to ponder updating the kitchen. With new cabinets, countertops, and a modern feel the kitchen is a big hit. Features include knotty alder cabinetry, a custom range hood. The final hurdle was the fireplace, after simplifying the design of the built-ins a elegant tile was installed with a floating mantle. After going through a large portion of this main floor, creating storage solutions and modernizing the feel of the space it left us to now wonder, what’s next?

Modern, simple and with an element of pizzazz. That was the motto behind this Travel Heights project. In this bathroom, our challenge was to extend the relatively small space while keeping the integrity of the existing floor tiles.Our expertise in color combinations and experience with patterns and textures helped us overcome the hurdle. The result was a clutter-free bathroom without being full-on minimalist, and yet another happy costumer. As a first step, large lenin tiles were installed on all the bathroom from floor to ceiling to create the continuity and to make the bathroom seem larger than it is. Large accent black and white 13x40 porcelain tiles were selected which a "wow" effect to the bathroom and maintain the color palette flow with the existing patterned floor tiles. Moreover, to create a modern, creative aesthetic, these were installed on the entire shower wall. A frame less shower affords the viewer the full visual draw of the stunning accent wall. The waterfall counter top on the side creatively frames the cabinets and provides protection to the beautiful mahogany wood from water spills. The cabinet details also included a small full-out rod from the left front side of the vanity for toilet paper, so no holes have to drilled on the beautiful counter-top side. The sink faucet was installed in the wall to create a clean, no-frills appearance. Additionally, we included upscale amenities like a stainless steel rain shower head with hand shower, an energy-efficient LED light fixture, floating drawer pulls and shower door with aluminum framing to give more strength. During this project we were tasked with adding a spark of character to the traditional white kitchen. By adding in dark touches of oak in the hood and kitchen island, our team was able to modernize a classic look. However, keeping the room bright and airy without natural light was an additional hurdle. Placing glass pendants above the island as well as including under-cabinetry lighting helped illuminate the space.

This amazing project was the culmination of triumph after triumph in setup, design, and function. The particular requirements of the Owner started during the contract phase forcing us to create a version of the contract used before. We then spent close to 90 days creating detailed specs, and a “research and development” born out of those specifications. Full automation and “walls as straight as steel” were challenges to address, Control 4 and Boise Cascade engineered lumber checked the boxes on those two items. Possibly the to jump was making the inside of clean, straight modern lines compliment the required traditional symmetry balance of the exterior. The architect masterfully made the blend in style, and then the real work began…that is. The final hurdle was completing this masterpiece in 9 months to meet the Owner’s move schedule, entire staff of 10 all played a part in eliminating several months from the schedule. The overall sense of accomplishment on this project was shared throughout the halls of our office.

This particular project required a padding under the rug. the stair case had to be built with specific specs so that each step was snug to the rug. we added new banisters and flattened the middle landing by moving the diagonal step in line with the others steps. iIt made for a much for aesthetically pleasing look. we also noticed that the top step had a dip in the center, so we poured self level on the top floor. Overall this project was a success with a few hurdles that were strategically overcome.
