A family of passionate athletes and sports aficionados embarked on a remarkable endeavor alongside our team and Studio M Merge. Their vision? To breathe new life into their outdated mid-century modern home and neglected pool, resulting in the dramatic “Sports Enthusiasts’ Hideaway.” The transformative journey focused on opening the interior spaces out toward the beautiful gardens and amenities. The renewed house features expanded open-plan living areas, a new bedroom, and a reimagined primary bath. An attached ADU added a sports bar and a flexible office space that can double as a private guest bedroom. The outdoor spaces were brought to life with the addition of expansive decks, inviting patios, a horseshoe pit, a basketball half-court, refreshing plunge pools, and a lush sports lawn. A pool house artfully frames the view from the pool to the neighboring golf course. This family of five finds themselves immersed in their expanded home and experiential outdoor hideaway. Every element has been thoughtfully designed to cater to their favorite activities, providing a peaceful haven where they can fully indulge their shared passion for sports. Midcentury rejuvenation, Removed several walls to open up this ground floor to immerse into the Beaverwood landscape. Keeping to the original 1960 design, we used vibrant colours and natural materials. Custom-designed cabinetry, illuminated walnut canopies, glass top bar servery and for island snacking! The Petal & Poppy Home is a vibrant, collected family residence defined by bold color, layered pattern, and a confident sense of personality. Designed over several years as the young family grew, the home reflects an evolving story rooted in warmth, creativity, and a love of expressive interiors. Color guided the design from the outset. A blue grasscloth dining room and an existing pink Persian rug in the formal living room became the foundation for a palette that unfolded organically throughout the home. With clients eager to mix patterns and embrace saturated hues, the design process focused on contrast, cohesion, and joyful self-expression. The entry makes an immediate statement with a playful spotted stair runner, oversized artwork, and a high-gloss black handrail that introduces graphic contrast. The formal living room, designed for entertaining, is the moodiest space in the home. Dark garnet walls and a commissioned piece by local artist Carrie Gillen create a dramatic backdrop, while pink tweed swivel chairs and a tailored charcoal sofa complete a space designed for lingering. Beyond French doors, the home office is an immersive mix of pattern and color, with wallpaper wrapping both walls and ceiling. A leopard carpet and modern crystal chandelier add a touch of glamour, resulting in a space that feels energizing and personal. The dining room continues the confident use of blue, layering patterns around a custom round pedestal table designed for everyday meals and gatherings alike. At the heart of the home, the family room was designed for togetherness. A bright blue sectional anchors the space, complemented by custom ottomans on hidden casters and softened with tailored throw pillows. Existing bookshelves are refreshed with a Peter Fasano wallcovering, creating a collected, lived-in backdrop. Upstairs, the primary suite offers a softer expression of color, blending blues, oranges, and pinks, while built-in window benches add moments of comfort. The children’s bedrooms balance playfulness with longevity, layered with color and texture designed to grow alongside them. The Petal & Poppy Home is a celebration of color, creativity, and family life—an interior that feels intentionally layered, expressive, and deeply personal, designed to evolve over time.

In Lisbon’s Alcântara neighborhood, a son inherited his father’s apartment and relocated from the UK with his partner to immerse themselves in Portuguese culture. Without altering the floor plan, our studio sought to bring clarity and lightness to the interiors, designing spaces that are both versatile and efficient, incorporating built-in furniture, artworks, and personal mementos. Throughout, the material palette plays with contrast and suspension. Cream stone floors are complemented by warm walnut finishes and airy white sheer curtains. Tailored cabinetry enhances spatial lightness by either floating, as seen with the distinct wall-mounted hall console and bedside tables, or by integrating subtly with the existing carpentry, such as the dresser extending beneath the window and the bay window's dining bench with concealed storage. Bespoke solutions cater to the living room’s diverse functions, including dining, reading, lounging, and occasionally painting. A niche beside the fireplace is home to a suspended walnut shelving system, intended to showcase a curated collection of ceramics and travel souvenirs. The room’s angled layout is tempered by a central composition of circular elements: a dining table, rug, and custom coffee table with a floating top. The dining area is completed with reissued vintage Portuguese classics. The kitchen includes a small breakfast nook, delineated by traditional hand-painted tiles from the nearby historic Sant’Anna factory, and a matching upholstered bench. These details come together to create a luminous, functional space that gently reflects the past while accommodating contemporary life.

This lakefront home is located on a small plateau in Forest Beach Estates, high above the lake and beach. The design of the home resulted from the Department of Environmental Qualities Critical Dunes Build-able area requirement. The resulting footprint created a flowing curved surface in plan and a curving perimeter that was covered by a curved roof. The views are spectacular from the three viewing levels of this home and allow the plan to provide multiple point panoramic vistas wherever you are in the spaces. We designed this home to be like a land ship with its ports of call the four seasons.
