'Sweet 100' cherry tomatoes growing in a 15-gallon terra-cotta pot. Container-grown tomatoes are more susceptible to blossom end rot, but cherry tomatoes like 'Sweet 100', 'Sungold', and 'Black Cherry' rarely have this problem. Photo by Steve Masley

This 'Yellow Pair' tomato is underplanted with Melampodium. It is supported with an iron obelisk. Learn how to grow easy vegetables that look great on your patio from the book "Easy Container Combos: Vegetables & Flowers." See a free, 24 page sample of the book at www.pamela-crawford.com. in the 'Books' section. Pamela Crawford designed and photographed the planter. A series of distinctive cupboards, specially designed around the material NewspaperWood, characterized by a sound and finely detailed construction.
NewspaperWood is a new material invented by Mieke Meijer, developed together with the Dutch design label Vij5 and now produced and distributed by a new NewspaperWood company. It returns newspapers, which are made from wood, into wood again. When a NewspaperWood log is cut, the layers of paper appear like lines of a wood grain or the rings of a tree and therefore resemble the aesthetic of real wood.
Breg Hanssen, the designer of the Framed cabinet, was fascinated especially by the indeterminable but distinct colour of the NewspaperWood material. To emphasize this quality he decided to incorporate NewspaperWood into a piece of furniture by combining it with contrasting colours. With this he literally ‘frames’ the material in coated steel. The cabinets are build out of a solid steel frame which can be delivered in different variations and colours.

- 16 FLOOR LAMP. 16 is formed by sequentially pouring three separate layers of coloured, molten glass (in varying opacities) on a horizontal plane. Each layer responds to the indeterminate shape of the previous pour to create a uniquely layered whole. Two of these pieces are then attached and illuminated with an internal LED lamp. The finished 16 is visually complex: each separate colour layer is visible through the other layers, with light reflecting along the edges.
16.8: 75''5/8W.max x 37''1/8D.max x 67''H.
16.11: 90''1/2W.max x 41''3/4D.max x 63''3/4H.
16.16: 80''7/8W.max x 68''1/8D.max x 69''1/4H.
