Design rendering for a whole house remodel and addition in San Ramon, California, by Taragano Design & Build. The front elevation is where a whole house project either reads as finished or reads as patched. On a ranch of this era the original face is usually a long low wall broken only by the garage door, which leaves nothing for the eye to land on and no clear indication of where the front door is. The roof does the work here. Raising the plane over the garage and running it at a shallower slope than the main body separates the two volumes, so the house reads as composed parts rather than one continuous run. The entry sits in the step between them, which is what makes it findable from the street without adding a portico or any applied detail. Everything else is restraint. Smooth stucco, a flush panel garage door, and dark trim against light walls. On a house this simple, contrast in the openings is what gives the elevation any depth, and adding materials would only make it busier without making it better. The front yard was planned as drought tolerant planting rather than lawn, which suits the exposure on this side of the house and the water constraints most of our clients are working within. "Transitional" -- what exactly does this term mean? Especially, when describing interior design. Transitional style design, usually means that you have characteristics of both modern and traditional in your space. You kind of fall in that even middle ground between both styles. For this dining room, our client was just that. However, she wasn't aware of it. She was trying to pair multiple traditional elements together, but it left her feeling unhappy. The space was feeling dark, filled with heavy furniture and nothing was popping or even uplifting. She knew she liked to mix patterns and textures, but was also unsure of how to achieve that. As I looked around her home, I realized that their art collection definitely leaned more on the modern and colorful side of the spectrum. This was a big indicator to me, she wasn't fully traditional at all, she was more transitional! That was my que, and we got to work and this is the result. Native House Photography

This project was done with SunTouch brand floor heating mats that have a mesh design that allows installers to cut, flip, and trim & maneuver around fixtures and obstructions such as the pictured area marked to indicate the location of the dishwasher and cabinetry. The system provides even cozy floor heat to the kitchen, living and dining areas. Current production SunTouch mats are made with easy-peel double-stick tape for even easier installation when it comes to holding the mats in place with adhesive on the subfloor before troweling over with thin-set mortar.

A seamless quartz countertop was designed and installed specifically for this installation to eliminate the need for multiple pieces of countertops. A top brand touch control faucet with an integrated LED temperature indicator was also installed in addition to a point of use water purification and instant purified hot water dispenser. A luxury residence in Tahoe, California featuring wire-brushed select Bavarian Oak wide-plank wood floors in a custom finish. The "select" indicates that the wood planks that were chosen show fewer knots and distressing. Arrigoni Woods specializes in wide-plank wood flooring, both recycled and engineered. Our wood comes from old-growth Western European forests that are sustainably managed. Arrigoni's uniquely engineered wood (which has the look and feel of solid wood) features a trio of layered engineered planks, with a middle layer of transversely laid vertical grain spruce, providing a solid core.

This is a beautiful three-car garage featuring a high ceiling and a bright, clean space. The epoxy-coated floor provides a durable, easy-to-clean surface, reflecting the abundant natural light entering through the windows. Presenting a case study of a client located in Nagoya, Japan. This client resides in an 85 square meter, two-bedroom, two-living room residence. The overall style of the house incorporates a blend of Japanese wooden and Nordic modern aesthetics. The client discovered us through a Google search and sought our expertise in recommending and selecting lighting fixtures suitable for their living room and dining area. The client expressed a preference for localized lighting, indicating a high requirement for accentuating specific areas. After reviewing the floor plans and renderings provided by the client, we assisted them in making their choices. Starting with the dining area, which is a separate space occupying approximately 10 square meters, the client has a solid wood dining table measuring 1.8 meters in length. Their preference for warm lighting led us to recommend the PH5 Macaron Pendant Light in a Nordic modern style. This pendant light offers a wide range of color options, and the client personally selected a combination of white and orange, paired with warm light sources. The actual result of this combination is truly remarkable. As the client had additional auxiliary lighting such as light strips installed in the dining area, the pendant light primarily serves the purpose of focusing the light on the food, perfectly meeting the client's requirements. Moving on to the living room, the client also has light strips installed on the ceiling and track lights in place. They expressed a need for a floor lamp beside the sofa to provide localized lighting, as they enjoy reading in the living room. Hence, we selected a unique umbrella-shaped wooden floor lamp that complements the pendant light in the dining area. This choice harmonizes well with the overall style of the dining area, which showcases a Japanese wooden aesthetic. When the client received the products, they expressed their complete satisfaction with how well the lighting fixtures aligned with their needs. I am sharing this case study with everyone, hoping it will provide inspiration and ideas for your own home renovations.
