Classic details from the shaker cabinets to the honeycomb tiles provide a nod to the bungalow style. We call it a bungalow pop-top refresh for a growing family. Located in the Houston Heights, the Waverly Residence is a modern home on an established street of two story homes boasting front porch typologies. The family’s desire for privacy resulted in a porch that rotates to internalize most of its function while still addressing the street. For this active family, yard activity and it’s visibility from within the home emerged as a priority for approaching the building’s relationship to the lot. Justifying the building mass to the Northern half of the site reinforces the scale of the design to the surrounding buildings and creates a large southern yard dedicated to play and brisket (is a Texas house a house without a barbeque?). The ground floor is clad in metal panel and a wood rainscreen that peels away from the structure to become both a fence and an entry threshold, blending the registration between the yard's privacy enclosure and the building skin. Variable width fiber-cement siding clads the second floor as a nod to the neighborhood vernacular. The pool and outdoor kitchen sit at the center of the yard, forming an island that divides the open play from private vehicular access at the alley. Shifted volumes delineate private space from the open public areas. The second floor extends over the public entryway to create a covered procession with cascading steps into the southern yard that traverses the length of the living spaces. The public program expands beyond the building enclosure to encompass the yard and living spaces. A horizontal shift in the ground floor volume produces both a private courtyard away from the lively public spaces and exterior delineation between private vehicular access and public entry. Within the open, ground floor plan, a change in elevation indicates the boundary between private and public space. Custom millwork provides ample storage for the young family. Playful patterns of enclosed storage with contrasting display boxes creates a cohesive millwork language throughout the home.

Inspiration for a timeless home design remodel in Seattle

A luxury residence in Tahoe, California featuring wire-brushed select Bavarian Oak wide-plank wood floors in a custom finish. The "select" indicates that the wood planks that were chosen show fewer knots and distressing. Arrigoni Woods specializes in wide-plank wood flooring, both recycled and engineered. Our wood comes from old-growth Western European forests that are sustainably managed. Arrigoni's uniquely engineered wood (which has the look and feel of solid wood) features a trio of layered engineered planks, with a middle layer of transversely laid vertical grain spruce, providing a solid core.

Carving Kids I Oak plank in 3-layer construction, bevelled on the long side and with approx. 4 mm top layer, with approx. 4 mm backing in the same wood and middle layer conifer. Tongue and groove on all sides for easy installation. Cracks, branch knots and splay knots are highlighted with black putty. Colour variations and some sapwood are possible. Small open cracks and unsealed spots in the millimetre range are allowed. The graphic design is split across 3 floor planks and is repeated several times lengthwise. The planks are numbered on the head end of the groove (1/3, 2/3, 3/3). In order to avoid joins in the same position, there are indicators where to cut and these are marked with „CUT“ along the groove.

Christmas holiday design for an amazing animal conservation ranch in Texas. Our goal was to deliver a holiday scheme indicative of rustic Texas. For year 2012 our look was to design with a color palette of forest green, rust, brown, cream and gold pulling from the use of natural elements, often found on the ranch, such as pheasant and ostrich feathers, deer sheds, lichen covered branches, beautiful vintage fowl and small critter taxidermy, massive pine comes, silver birch branches etc.. mixed with vintage wood skis, copper bladed ice skates, rustic lanterns, etc..

At the Lovelle’s Houston home we did a full baluster swap of the old wood pickets with our powder coated wrought iron balusters, replaced all the handrails, and replaced the starter steps’ false cap. We also replaced the original post with a new one, touched up and refinished to match. The stairs now have that old world charm that is indicative of a Venetian Stairs remodel.

This previously unnoticed half-bath/laundry room is now a stunner thanks to the Renovisions team. The overall idea was to create enough storage and organization for this busy household yet be beautifully distinctive for guests who use this space. This plan included a stackable washer and dryer center with shelf, clothes rod and pull-down drying rack which was a creative space saving solution to maximize use of the laundry closet. Renovisions re-used the existing entry door and built-out a pocket which not only makes the space feel larger and less cluttered but is easier to enter and exit. When the Renovision was completed and turned over to our client, she was absolutely thrilled with the results as indicated by her comment below. Gorgeous light blue/grey marble basket weave floor tile is a perfect match for the dark blue/grey painted finish of the furniture piece vanity with slotted shelf for towels and accessories. The sconce light fixtures in chrome finish adds a little sparkle to this clean and classy look. Beautiful marble-look quartz countertops tie in nicely and played a part in transforming this ordinary powder room into a high-functioning, beautiful part of the home that is comfortable, livable and well appointed.

A great way to stop their destruction is being able to recognize the warning signs of their infestation. Once you have identified them, you can take care of them and put in precautions in order to keep them away and stop any future problems from them. Some Info on Spider Mites You might have seen these little pests before but didn’t know what they were. They are these tiny creatures that are related to ticks and spiders. What They Look Like In order to see them properly, you will need to look at them through a magnifying glass. These little bugs come in a number of different patterns and colours. Being so incredibly small, they are roughly a millimeter at the most. For reverence, that’s about as thick as your credit card. Trying to look at them without a magnifying glass, all you might see are these tiny moving dots that might be brown, red, black, or yellow. Causes of Spider Mites Due to their shier tininess, these little invaders can waltz right into your gardens undetected. It’s even possible that you have bought a plant for a nursery or garden center that has had spider mites on them. They can even be brought into your garden by the wind. These little pests have the ability to spread very quickly due to their ability to eat a number of different plants. They are not very picky when it comes to eating your plants. You will be able to see the little mites on the paper. Rid Your Plants of Spider Mites Whether it’s the summer or winter, follow these tips for treating spider mites. Summer: You can use a forceful water spray to knock them off of your tree. Once they are gone, periodically use your hose to rinse your trees for the season. Make sure to get the bottom of the leaves because this is where the mites like to live. Winter: This also includes any time before the buds come out in the spring. If your tree has spider mites, during this time, you will only see the eggs settled on the branches of your tree. Apply dormant oil to all the eggs before they hatch. It is also handy to know what natural predators eat spider mites. Certain rival insects such as lacewings and predator beetles will aid in getting rid of your pesky mites. Preventing Spider Mites Spider mites are most active during drought season. When trees are stressed, this is when they attack. If you are experiencing extended hot days and long dry periods, it is important to keep your trees hydrated.
