Inspiration for a small transitional enclosed laminate floor living room remodel in DC Metro with gray walls

Jami Abbadessa, When moving from LA to La Verne, this young family reached out to me to help make their new home more contemporary to better reflect their personality. The home had a good foundation to work around with it’s wood flooring, new cabinets and updated fireplace. I added layers of decor and infused a contemporary vibe that suited their style. There is plenty of seating for family and friends on the custom sectional, chaise and counter stools. New window coverings were custom made with a silvery-white shimmer and thick, grey banded edge detail. To add even more character to the space, I used a geometric flocked wall covering. The walls were painted in 2 shades of grey. A lot of decor, art and accessories were added to make the space feel warm and inviting. The entryway lighting and existing kitchen pendants were replaced with more modern fixtures as well as the cabinetry hardware. Now the space is a place where they can relax, spend time together and entertain family and friends.

Within this comfortably cozy mountain retreat filled with natural light, Siemasko + Verbridge has created a space ideal for entertaining and showcasing the surrounding mountain views. Located in Sugarbush, Vermont, a refined alpine style creates a relaxed and inviting environment. Reclaimed beams and earthy materials emit a feeling of warmth throughout the condo and the fireplace, faced with local Vermont stone, is perfect for curling up in front of after outdoor adventures. The team drew inspiration from the condo’s slope-side setting, infusing the space with playful reminders of the wilderness outdoors: stag print pillows, snowflakes on the dining chairs and skiing scenes depicted on the walls as you head upstairs. Siemasko +Verbridge’s family-friendly design accommodates ample space for gear and ski storage, durable fabrics and easy-to-maintain furnishings. Coarser textiles such as antler chandeliers are balanced with softer materials like nubby pillows and knit throws providing an interesting juxtaposition of textural elements. Located steps from the waterways of Huntington Harbor, California, Phelps Residence is a remodel of a regional mid-century house, developed in the 1960s along with the rest of the Harbor neighborhood. The goal of the renovation was to honor the mid-century bones of the existing structure featuring full-height windows and open beam ceilings while infusing new life and detail via a ground-up renovation. The volume of the house is a two-story stucco façade structure with vertical cedar and black metal accents. The wall-to-wall, full-height sliding doors create an indoor-outdoor experience by extending the front yard fire pit and seating area through the living room to the backyard swimming pool and cabana beyond. The climate of the Harbor provides an ideal environment to open the space up to the yards year-round, thereby expanding the footprint of the house and allowing for an uninterrupted flow between rooms and indoor and outdoor areas. The entry foyer features a steel and terrazzo sculptural stair in a recessed bed of river rock. The lower level’s large-scale terrazzo tiles seamlessly join the living room, dining room, and kitchen. The upper level is reserved for the private bedrooms and a more intimate family room. Hardwood floors flow throughout while large-scale windows seek to capture the unique views offered from each room. Stack bond CMU garden walls in the front yard define the entry sequence, honoring the mid-century history of the residence.

Boho meets Portuguese design in a stunning transformation of this Van Ness tudor in the upper northwest neighborhood of Washington, DC. Our team’s primary objectives were to fill space with natural light, period architectural details, and cohesive selections throughout the main level and primary suite. At the entry, new archways are created to maximize light and flow throughout the main level while ensuring the space feels intimate. A new kitchen layout along with a peninsula grounds the chef’s kitchen while securing its part in the everyday living space. Well-appointed dining and living rooms infuse dimension and texture into the home, and a pop of personality in the powder room round out the main level. Strong raw wood elements, rich tones, hand-formed elements, and contemporary nods make an appearance throughout the newly renovated main level and primary suite of the home.

This eclectic space is infused with unique pieces and warm finishes combined to create a welcoming and comfortable space. We used Ikea kitchen cabinets and butcher block counter top for the bar area and built in media center. Custom wood floating shelves to match, maximize storage while maintaining clean lines and minimizing clutter. A custom bar table in the same wood tones is the perfect spot to hang out and play games. Splashes of brass and pewter in the hardware and antique accessories offset bright accents that pop against or white walls and ceiling. Grey floor tiles are an easy to clean solution warmed up by woven area rugs.

For this young family who wanted to reimagine their 1950s home, we created an open-concept floor plan with vaulted ceilings to highlight Puget Sound views. Our design blended mid-century roots with modern functionality, infusing character and warmth. This living room features cozy furnishings and authentic mid-century pieces inherited by the client. Meticulously restored to their former glory, these pieces seamlessly bridge old and new, adding charm and a personal touch with their unique stories and sentiments.

We transformed this added-on master bedroom by infusing the mid-century modern character of the original part of the house. This included replacing the carpet with Garrison’s Du Bois oak floors, painting the ceiling white, and installing Farrow and Ball’s Aranami wallpaper in navy and white for a feature wall. We also added lighting where there was none, and furnished the space with a mix of new and vintage mid-century pieces.

The owners of this 1919 craftsman home in Tangletown desired to infuse their kitchen with the old-world character that they loved in the rest of their home. Taking their cue from an antique Stickley island they had previously purchased, our design team created a remodeled kitchen with custom quartersawn oak cabinets, custom-designed, handmade accent tiles, and a farmhouse sink.
