Step into this beautifully transformed bathroom, a serene blue and bold sanctuary nestled within a distinguished South Pasadena home. This space artfully marries modern indulgence with historical charm.
The first thing that captivates your attention is the gleaming brass fixtures from Brizo. These fixtures aren’t merely functional; they’re bold statement pieces that inject a layer of refined elegance. The brass showerhead, sink faucet, and bathtub faucet radiate against the calm backdrop.
Next to these radiant fixtures, you’ll find cabinets bathed in a soothing shade of sky blue. This tranquil hue instills a sense of serenity, transforming the bathroom into a peaceful oasis. This is the perfect place to start and end your day in the city of South Pasadena.
Contrasting the contemporary fixtures and cabinetry, the walls display traditional Tongue and Groove paneling. This classic design detail pays homage to the home’s rich history. When paired with the sky-blue cabinets, it ushers in a coastal, airy vibe.
As you venture further into the space, your gaze naturally falls onto the floor. Here, a striking chevron pattern captures the eye. The rhythmic alternation of tile shades creates a dynamic visual journey across the room.
The shower and the bathtub are enveloped in immaculate white quartz slabs. The subtle grey veins throughout the quartz radiate a spa-like ambiance. These serene elements, along with the white quartz, brass fixtures, sky-blue cabinets, and dynamic chevron tile flooring, harmonize perfectly.
Illuminating this exquisite ensemble is the soft, warm glow of strategically placed LED recessed lighting. These modern lights enhance every design detail, creating a cozy, inviting atmosphere. The LEDs highlight the textures and colors in the room, providing efficient and adjustable light.
Finally, in acknowledgment of the house’s historical lineage, the bathroom window has been custom-crafted. These windows invite an abundance of natural light, offering glimpses of the charming South Pasadena neighborhood. They fill the room with warmth, paying homage to the history and character of the city.
In summary, this ‘blue and bold’ bathroom stands as a testament to the seamless fusion of modern elements with historical charm. It showcases visually stunning aesthetics combined with practical functionality. Truly embodying the spirit of the city of South Pasadena.

The exterior of what looks like a vernacular Hamptons shingle cottage, designed by architect Blaze Makoid, is intentionally deceiving. For the interiors, Axis Mundi typically decided not to play by the rules. Instead of de rigeur nautical artifacts, floppy sofas and wicker furniture, the firm responded to Makoid’s all-white interior envelope by injecting rooms with comfortable modern elegance that’s more contemporary Cap Ferrat than Eastern Long Island. Clean furniture silhouettes—from Cassina, Poltrona Frau and B&B Italia—a Massimo Vitali beach scene, a Moooi chandelier and industrial finishes (such as the steel of the fireplace surround and the anodized aluminum of a sleek Bulthaup kitchen) spark a creative tension between indoors and out. The gray palette provides a quiet backdrop for the nature outside, except for the master suite, where custom oak panels and blue shades create a reassuring warmth conducive to sleep.

The Harlow's powder room boasts a clean and refreshing design with its white countertop, walls, trim, and sink. The pristine white elements create a bright and airy atmosphere, enhancing the overall sense of cleanliness and tranquility in the space. Adding a touch of color and visual interest, the powder room features blue wall tiles, which inject a subtle pop of color and add a hint of sophistication to the room. The light hardwood floors complement the overall aesthetic, offering a warm and natural element to the design. Completing the powder room is a sleek white toilet, seamlessly blending into the clean and minimalist theme.

Rustic yet refined, this modern country retreat blends old and new in masterful ways, creating a fresh yet timeless experience. The structured, austere exterior gives way to an inviting interior. The palette of subdued greens, sunny yellows, and watery blues draws inspiration from nature. Whether in the upholstery or on the walls, trailing blooms lend a note of softness throughout. The dark teal kitchen receives an injection of light from a thoughtfully-appointed skylight; a dining room with vaulted ceilings and bead board walls add a rustic feel. The wall treatment continues through the main floor to the living room, highlighted by a large and inviting limestone fireplace that gives the relaxed room a note of grandeur. Turquoise subway tiles elevate the laundry room from utilitarian to charming. Flanked by large windows, the home is abound with natural vistas. Antlers, antique framed mirrors and plaid trim accentuates the high ceilings. Hand scraped wood flooring from Schotten & Hansen line the wide corridors and provide the ideal space for lounging.

The team at Smith & Sons Willoughby worked closely with the client on this project to create a timelessly classic home with all the modern luxuries we enjoy!
A gentle colour palette, and high-end fittings and fixtures provided a perfect canvas for the clients to inject pops of excitement and flare that gives this home a unique and homey feel, while being trendy enough to hold its sale value down the track.

Game On is a lower level entertainment space designed for a large family. We focused on casual comfort with an injection of spunk for a lounge-like environment filled with fun and function. Architectural interest was added with our custom feature wall of herringbone wood paneling, wrapped beams and navy grasscloth lined bookshelves flanking an Ann Sacks marble mosaic fireplace surround. Blues and greens were contrasted with stark black and white. A touch of modern conversation, dining, game playing, and media lounge zones allow for a crowd to mingle with ease. With a walk out covered terrace, full kitchen, and blackout drapery for movie night, why leave home?

LiLu’s most recent work with these long-time clients was to freshen up significant spaces in their Minneapolis home. Staying true to our original concept of creating a traditional, welcoming, and comfortable retreat, these homeowners have expanded on their love for living and entertaining in a sophisticated, yet casual style. The great room is light and bright, featuring two large sofas that anchor the seating areas on both ends of the room. Original pieces of furniture were covered in neutral fabrics that emphasize texture. Accessories inject color and detail into the space. The dining area invites guests to pull up a reupholstered chair and enjoy long conversations around the custom-designed table. A large area rug stretches across the floor as a natural centerpiece of color and pattern. It’s one of several, including the whimsical take on a tree of life, that are custom-designed for the space. The guest room was updated to be more inviting for returning adult children and their spouses. Previous furnishings were replaced with nightstands and a large, custom bed that more closely complement the sophisticated feel of the rest of the home.

The mammoth phalanxes of white-brick apartment houses that proliferated in the 1960s occupy an architectural purgatory; generic, with boxy interiors devoid of detail, many aren’t even interesting enough to excite a raised eyebrow. Our solution for this exemplar near Astor Place, which fortunately was blessed with premium skyline views, was to relieve the interior ordinariness by stimulating the senses with tactile variety. Axis Mundi created a complexly layered textural palette that injects visual adrenaline into the architectural envelope: a television set into a waxed steel panel topped by clerestory windows with a built-in planter for grasses; wenge wood walls rising from richly figured walnut floors; white subway tile surrounding a subtly colored penny-tile mosaic tub and wall; in the kitchen, Venetian plaster, steel, stone and wood mix harmoniously as a surprisingly spiced exotic concoction. The interiors exude a confident masculinity that challenges the complacency of bland, white-box living.

Upon acquiring the property, the homeowner faced a compact backyard dominated by a neglected lawn that offered little usability. The ambition was not only to enhance the outdoor space's utility but to inject it with vibrant aesthetics and dynamism through the hardscape. To bring this vision to life, we embraced a palette of colorful materials, choosing multicolored concrete, pavers, and tiles that introduce a playful yet sophisticated charm. Further creativity was applied in the design through the use of curvy lines that flow organically throughout the space, leading the eye and inviting movement. Beach rocks were thoughtfully embedded into decorative bands, adding a tactile and visual texture that complements the curvilinear approach. This strategic combination of color, texture, and form transformed the backyard into a visually stimulating and highly functional outdoor living area.

This client came to us wanting to enhance their existing space by using some creative finishes for walls. They hoped to make the home feel more modern with an urban rustic vibe as opposed to the traditional architectural style of the structure but did not know how to accomplish this transition. Upon our arrival it was noted that all walls had been painted white which was determined too harsh and did not achieve the modern feel the homeowner had hoped to evoke. The space was softened by using a subtle and fresh color palette with one accent color for impact. Teal was the color selected to create a continuous thread of pop in varying degrees in each room which included the Entry Hall, Dining Room and Living Room. Touches of black were injected into each space due to the client’s previous purchases of a drum fixture for the living room and black dining table; both gave direction on scale and style.
The Entry Hall was given powerful impact as someone enters the home by taking its cue from the abstract art selected for the Dining Room. A faux concrete wall was created with the use of artistically combined colors. In the Dining Room, the use of classic chairs are successfully made modern by upholstering in teal leather which added both continuity and unexpected interest next to the velvet Greek Key pattern found on host chairs. In the Living Room custom upholstered sofa and chairs are grounded by a rug that brings all colors together. A unique copper rivet finish was applied in the niches that flank the fireplace as a contrast to whimsical amber crystal mini chandeliers hung over modern consoles that display simple yet exciting teal bowls. The final furnishings, art and accessories ultimately brought the entire home together in a rustic, modern way that is warm and inviting reflecting the unique personality of the people who live there.

Nestled in the serene hills of Beverly Hills, this 5,900 sqft private residence designed by HENNE CREATIVE is a masterclass in minimal luxury. The architectural language merges sharp lines with warm materiality, creating an atmosphere of effortless sophistication and calm.
The double height living room anchors the heart of the home, with expansive glazing that draws the surrounding landscape inward. A sculptural floating staircase connects both levels while embracing natural light, emphasizing verticality without overwhelming the space.
The palette is defined by warm walnut ceilings, crisp white walls, large format porcelain surfaces, and soft natural micro cement floors balancing visual warmth with a serene, almost gallery-like restraint. The bespoke modular sofa and low slung furniture pieces reinforce a grounded, architectural approach to interior design.
Soft curves in the lighting installation contrast the otherwise linear geometry, injecting fluidity and movement into the space. The fireplace wall, concealed storage solutions, and integrated lighting showcase HENNE CREATIVE's signature: form following function with quiet precision.
Throughout the home, circulation is framed by uninterrupted sightlines and natural transitions between public and private zones. Hidden gardens, clean detailing, and material honesty all combine to offer a deeply meditative living experience where every element has been considered for both aesthetic impact and spatial clarity.
This project reflects our studio’s belief that true luxury lies in restraint, clarity, and intentional living.

The material palette was partly inspired by family trips to Costa Rica. The rich walnut, living green wall, and copious light inject warmth and subtle hints of tropical influence into the home.

"Sun-Kissed Sanctuary" reimagines the traditional dining room as a versatile haven, perfect for year-round conversation and creating a lasting first impression. This project catered to the client's desire for a space that seamlessly blends casual elegance with organic elements. The design team employed a calming palette of soft whites and airy blues, setting the stage for a serene escape.
Textural harmony was achieved through a layered approach: radial plush linen chairs provided sumptuous comfort, while woven pillows and a shagreen-wrapped coffee table added a touch of rustic charm. A lush fiddle fig leaf plant, strategically placed in the space, injected a dose of life and echoed the organic design theme.
Respectful of the existing foundation, we integrated the client's existing rug, a statement chandelier, and a captivating wall thread hanging into the new design. To elevate the space further, we introduced custom elements that instilled a sense of unique character. Hand-crafted wood beams and wall trim, reminiscent of a sun-drenched porch, added warmth and architectural interest.
Oyster-hued wallpaper on the foyer ceiling provided a bold textural contrast and a touch of coastal sophistication. The added white trim was accentuated, drawing the eye upwards and creating a sense of verticality. The "Sun-Kissed Sanctuary" transcends the limitations of a traditional front room, offering a versatile space that invites relaxation and connection.
This project exemplifies our ability to curate a space that is both elegant and inviting, perfectly reflecting the client's personality and lifestyle.

Creating your dream space in a rental home can sometimes feel limiting, but for this project we focused on unlocking colorful possibilities for our clients.
Originally, both office spaces were bare and clean but lacked personality.
Our goal was to level everything up while injecting more fun and flavor into the office spaces so they had Zoom-friendly backdrops that made them look forward to going into the office each day.
