This dated bungalow was in need of an update - see before photos. Deborah created a subtle nautical look to coordinate with the existing traditional wood dining table and wish list of the client that included injecting blue into the interior to create a sophisticated modern feel.

We Feng Shui'ed, designed and restored this glorious great room in a Colonial Revival home on the North Shore of Boston. The original elements were incredible: an inglenook fireplace, huge beams, a giant clock from a train station in Watertown, MA, huge windows, original hardwood floors, and a sliding glass door overlooking the backyard. We wanted to update and refresh the space, and inject our homeowners' sense of casual fun and color. A huge oriental rug from Pottery Barn tied the color scheme together, along with leather club chairs and a huge leather Chesterfield sofa. The family gathers here for games, movies, and general relaxation in front of the fireplace. 1930s ski posters add a travel element, and the huge scale furniture is befitting of so grand a space.

Here in this basement courtyard, a great example of green walls in the context of a complete garden revamp. The client had a rather dull, lifeless, and dark space and wanted to inject some color into the courtyard. The client wanted grey tones to be the overall theme of the garden, but also realised the need to counterbalance this with bursts of color, and what better way than to incorporate some stunning greenery. However, the limited space in the courtyard minimized the available space for planting and thus, a vertical option was sought. This would have the added benefit of breaking up the timber screening which could have made the garden look rather enclosed on its own. But a vertical green wall also presented its own issues. Real plants would require a costly irrigation system and would add a significant amount of weight to the wall. Plus, the height of the walls meant that a living wall may have struggled through a lack of sunlight being allowed in.

Only the chicest of modern touches for this detached home in Tornto’s Roncesvalles neighbourhood. Textures like exposed beams and geometric wild tiles give this home cool-kid elevation. The front of the house is reimagined with a fresh, new facade with a reimagined front porch and entrance. Inside, the tiled entry foyer cuts a stylish swath down the hall and up into the back of the powder room. The ground floor opens onto a cozy built-in banquette with a wood ceiling that wraps down one wall, adding warmth and richness to a clean interior. A clean white kitchen with a subtle geometric backsplash is located in the heart of the home, with large windows in the side wall that inject light deep into the middle of the house. Another standout is the custom lasercut screen features a pattern inspired by the kitchen backsplash tile. Through the upstairs corridor, a selection of the original ceiling joists are retained and exposed. A custom made barn door that repurposes scraps of reclaimed wood makes a bold statement on the 2nd floor, enclosing a small den space off the multi-use corridor, and in the basement, a custom built in shelving unit uses rough, reclaimed wood. The rear yard provides a more secluded outdoor space for family gatherings, and the new porch provides a generous urban room for sitting outdoors. A cedar slatted wall provides privacy and a backrest.

The custom made vessels and the accent tiles were the inspiration for this bathroom. These pieces were custom made by the artist, Samuel L. Hoffman, a potter, based on our specifications, color and inspiration. The detail on the front of the vessels represents the perfect wave to be out in the ocean surfing! My client wanted an ocean/sea feel for his master bathroom and blue was his color of choice. The crystals in the accent tiles, makes the perfect representation of the deep sea with a beautiful perfect dark blue to match the outside of the vessels. The rest of the materials were carefully chosen to help bring the sea feel to it - the rocks, the wood planks and the "sea salt" wall tile. Each accent tile was specifically placed to balance the bathroom. The sink wall was carefully tailored - we remove some of the white liners and inserted glass blue liners strategically to bring the blue to the wall without taking over the vessels. The shower has a trench drain without a curb to allow for a clean smooth shower floor. Bathroom has all the contemporary amenities my client was looking for! Customizable outdoor armchair which provides numerous combinations of seats, legs and backrests and is suitable for any type of situation and mood. The injection molded bottom shell characterizes this outdoor armchair, specifically designed to solve different functions: insertion of the legs, engagement of elastic straps, hooking of different types of backrest. It is possible to choose between aluminum legs of various colors or in solid iroko wood. The seat of Emma outdoor armchair is padded and can be lined with fabric or Textilene, while the backrests have a powder coated aluminum structure covered in hand-woven cord or Textilene. The outdoor armchair Emma was born for outdoor use in private or contract environments. This modern design object is also highly functional and has a feminine and elegant style.

Always wanting an island for dining and prep, this homeowner decided it was time to remodel the kitchen. Removing the peninsula made the room more open and airy, and allowed for the island to create a stunning focal point. We saved on budget by refacing the existing cabinets and building a custom island --this allowed room in the budget to upgrade to a marble backsplash--another classic that will remain timeless for decades. Pulling in some neutrals like whites and greys and then injecting her favorite color blue, the kitchen became an extension of her! Quartz countertops in Torquay and classic shaker-style cabinets make this a coastal classic design. The blue is just the cherry on the cake, or should we say blueberry?
