This kitchen was designed by Gail O’Rourke of White Wood Kitchens using Wood Harbor Cabinetry. The design includes a full overlay Maple Chelsea door and Manor Flat drawers. The finish is Sea Clay, a gray that sets off the Wicked White Quartzite Countertops to perfection. This unique kitchen includes a corner cooktop that fits nicely into the shape of the room. There is a subway tile backsplash with a gray accent above the cooktop. The hardware is a decorative glass knob. Builder: Dave Ricardo.

With Craftsman details throughout the rest of the home, our clients wanted their new kitchen to have transitional elements such as Shaker style doors, a farmhouse sink, warm wood tones, and other timeless features such as a custom hood and natural stone counters. The beautiful Glorious White marble counters have a soft honed finish and the stunning marble backsplash ties everything together to complete the look. The two-toned cabinets pair a rich stained cherry island with soft white perimeter cabinets. Brushed brass accents on the appliances pulls, cabinet hardware, lights and plumbing fixtures add another layer of sophistication. An induction range, dishwasher drawers, undercounter microwave, and four-door smart refrigerator amp up the functionality of this cook’s kitchen.

They wanted a larger island and easier access to the dining room. They also wanted to eliminate the existing cooktop location from the island and make the island larger. Because the existing space was not able to accommodate all those requests, we decided to eliminate the breakfast area and incorporate that space into the kitchen. By eliminating an existing bay window and making the kitchen sink window larger, we were able to make the new layout work without sacrificing any natural light. A French door to the newly added and adjoining sunroom and casual outdoor dining spot still allows for multiple dining options. And by enlarging the opening to the dining room, it allows for easier access to this space on a daily basis versus for special occasions only. The client already had a large desk in the kitchen and spends a lot of time at this area. We were able to make the new desk even larger by moving the refrigerator to another area. The refrigerator is covered in decorative panels so that it blends nicely into the furniture look of the room. The larger island can now seat several people comfortably. The room’s traditional feel was achieved by providing different finishes on the perimeter, island and desk cabinetry. Handmade gray backsplash tile, a combination of soapstone and Carrera marble give the space a classic appeal. Details provide interest – custom glass mullions, decorative wood hood and bronze hardware give the space character and charm. After going through the tragedy of losing their home to a fire, Cherie Miller of CDH Designs and her family were having a difficult time finding a home they liked on a large enough lot. They found a builder that would work with their needs and incredibly small budget, even allowing them to do much of the work themselves. Cherie not only designed the entire home from the ground up, but she and her husband also acted as Project Managers.
