Behind the house is a beautiful stream with waterfalls and rock walls which the home curves around as the newer additions ramble along. The great room, which was in essence a barn-like edifice was a different, larger scale then the rest of the home so we decided a single color for the whole place would not create a truly united whole. Instead, we decided to flaunt the barn's butch dimensions by painting it a darker, stronger color then the rest of the home and used the same cream trim color to connect them. The results are a color palette which plays up the home's best features while settling it into the landscape as well. Paint colors are Benjamin Moore.

Original wall space wasn’t well utilized with cabinet height, and there was a major need for increased (and creative) storage solutions. The double sink was hard to use, 4 burners at the cooktop were not enough, and the lighting in the space was very poor. Cabinet height was maximized, taken to the full exterior wall height. A double bowl with a low divide helped with cleaning larger items. A 36” range with 6-burners better fit the client’s cooking style. A new lighting plan with ample task lighting greatly elevates the entire space.

Soothing grey tones, larger scale field tiles and ample storage in the double bowl Dura Supreme Cabinetry vanity and medicine cabinets, help create a bathroom space that is soothing and a joy to use. Recessed can lighting provide great general lighting while light bars above each sink provide wonderful additional task lighting.

To achieve this design, mechanicals and a window were relocated. The new painted island with Boos block countertop, allowed for larger walk ways. The removal of a shared wall between the kitchen and living room of this split level home led to an amazing transformation. The kitchen boasts Wynnbrooke Cabinetry in a painted white finish with Amerock satin nickel hardware. The stainless steel farm sink blends beautifully with the appliances. Cambria countertops in Torquay finish off the L-shaped cabinetry as well as the island which features deep drawers and pull out trash bins. The light finishes lend well to the new open floor plan. The master bath was completely remodeled with all new cabinetry, countertops, fixtures and Constellation Black shower pan and panels with a subway tile look from The Onyx Collection. A full frameless glass door and enclosure makes the bathroom feel much larger. In the basement bath, a new Onyx lavatory and a new tub/shower combination updated the room. A home salon was added to the lower level. New paint, doors and trim finished out this remodel. A few years before the interior remodel, Conant Construction was tasked with updating the exterior facade, adding a garage and making some upgrades to the deck.

Renovating the worn master bath of this 1950’s contemporary ranch was a challenge, but the Renovisions team took the task in stride. The biggest design challenge was enlarging the bathroom while also creating a usable and functional sitting area adjacent to their master bedroom. A few of the design highlights included; the pocket door which created an unencumbered space in the bath, a larger sized shower with no door and a lineal drain with curbless shower entry, larger format porcelain tiles, a shower niche, heated floors with a programmable thermostat, and a one piece concealed trap skirted toilet. Clipping the corner wall upon entering the sitting room softened the shape of the room and ensured comfortable walking space through the hallway into the master bedroom. The homeowners particularly love the customizations of the stylish designed vanity which included ample space to store bath supplies in the full extension drawers and a bottom shelf for towels. The custom Benjamin Moore dark blue/grey colored cabinetry and framed mirror looks stunning with the Silestone’s ‘Pulsar’ quartz countertop and shelf pieces. They also loved the gray-blue muted marble tones of the 12”x24” shower wall field tile and chose a bright mosaic-look tile for the rear wall of the shower niche. Replacing the older windows provided more natural light into both the bathroom and sitting room spaces. With spa-worthy, on-trend, creative uses of space, this ‘Renovision’ was enjoyed and appreciated by these homeowners!

Our clients already had a cottage on Torch Lake that they loved to visit. It was a 1960s ranch that worked just fine for their needs. However, the lower level walkout became entirely unusable due to water issues. After purchasing the lot next door, they hired us to design a new cottage. Our first task was to situate the home in the center of the two parcels to maximize the view of the lake while also accommodating a yard area. Our second task was to take particular care to divert any future water issues. We took necessary precautions with design specifications to water proof properly, establish foundation and landscape drain tiles / stones, set the proper elevation of the home per ground water height and direct the water flow around the home from natural grade / drive. Our final task was to make appealing, comfortable, living spaces with future planning at the forefront. An example of this planning is placing a master suite on both the main level and the upper level. This home remodel is a celebration of curves and light. Starting from humble beginnings as a basic builder ranch style house, the design challenge was maximizing natural light throughout and providing the unique contemporary style the client’s craved. The Entry offers a spectacular first impression and sets the tone with a large skylight and an illuminated curved wall covered in a wavy pattern Porcelanosa tile. The chic entertaining kitchen was designed to celebrate a public lifestyle and plenty of entertaining. Celebrating height with a robust amount of interior architectural details, this dynamic kitchen still gives one that cozy feeling of home sweet home. The large “L” shaped island accommodates 7 for seating. Large pendants over the kitchen table and sink provide additional task lighting and whimsy. The Dekton “puzzle” countertop connection was designed to aid the transition between the two color countertops and is one of the homeowner’s favorite details. The built-in bistro table provides additional seating and flows easily into the Living Room. A curved wall in the Living Room showcases a contemporary linear fireplace and tv which is tucked away in a niche. Placing the fireplace and furniture arrangement at an angle allowed for more natural walkway areas that communicated with the exterior doors and the kitchen working areas. The dining room’s open plan is perfect for small groups and expands easily for larger events. Raising the ceiling created visual interest and bringing the pop of teal from the Kitchen cabinets ties the space together. A built-in buffet provides ample storage and display. The Sitting Room (also called the Piano room for its previous life as such) is adjacent to the Kitchen and allows for easy conversation between chef and guests. It captures the homeowner’s chic sense of style and joie de vivre.

The Viking range top is a complimentary focal point of the kitchen. A raised area of Zodiac countertop was used as a back splash and a stainless steel industrial fan finish the range top all composition. Notice the stepped upper under cabinet task lighting, as well as above accent lighting. The owners were using larger appliances, such as a Sub-Aero refrigerator, 36’’ Viking gas range top, and a 30’’ Viking built-in oven. The final design had to have space for the appliances, as well as enough workspace around them to allow for proper usage.
