Custom Knotty Alder Daughter's Suite: Integrated Storage & Home Tech
We designed this daughter's bedroom as a fully unified sanctuary, leveraging intricate, hand-finished millwork to create a seamless living and media hub. By strictly utilizing the same custom Knotty Alder found throughout the entire Hayden estate, we ensured the secondary rooms deliver the identical "no-expense-spared" standard as the primary master suite.
Artisan Features & Construction Excellence:
Complete Knotty Alder Media Wall: The centerpiece of the room is a comprehensive Knotty Alder built-in system. This isn't just cabinetry; it's a structural element designed to define the room’s function, showcasing the natural, rustic texture that balances the home’s modern technology.
Integrated Media Console: The lower cabinetry features a dedicated media console with open component shelving and concealable storage drawers. We engineered the console to support a integrated smart TV (note the kitchen construction detail on the screen!), seamlessly hiding all wiring behind the precision panel work.
High-Capacity Floor-to-Ceiling Storage: Flanking the media zone are massive linen towers and wardrobes, providing sophisticated, long-term organization. Every door and drawer utilizes furniture-grade joinery and substantial, traditional hardware to match the luxury aesthetic of the home's plumbing.
Unified Architectural Details: We extended the Knotty Alder into substantial architectural casings, framing the expansive window/slider and tying the room into the surrounding Idaho landscape. This continuity of material creates a sophisticated, "Mountain Modern" environment throughout the entire residence.
Technical Flow: Note the complex integration of the built-ins into the room’s geometry, including the perfectly fit baseboard trim. This level of finish work demonstrates our capability to manage complex millwork installations as effectively as our advanced Kohler hydrotherapy systems.

The client required an entryway that conveyed openness and architectural clarity while integrating seamlessly with the rest of the home. High ceilings were leveraged to amplify verticality and natural light, creating a sense of expansiveness upon entry. A recessed wall niche anchors the space, while the alignment of the console and mirror establishes a strong central axis. Vertical glazing on the door and stair balusters reinforces rhythm and transparency, defining a spatial threshold that is both functional and architecturally cohesive.

On a sloping 13,700 square foot lot, the design intent of this project was to craft a village of stone masses behind a quiet, landscaped wall. From the curb, the facade feels both understated and timeless - a rooted monument from a time long gone. Yet its essence is communal. Inspired by mediterranean medinas, it is an experience that feels solitary and shared, a retreat and a relic.
Behind the front door, a sprawling sanctuary unfolds organized around large outdoor living spaces. Its eroded beauty invites visitors to become immersed in the lush landscaping and serene stone corridors. Leveraging a minimal material palette, the home creates its own transformative context with a deeply rooted connection to nature.

Inspired by the Spanish-style architecture of a cherished multi-generational family property, this project aimed to transform it into a Spanish Revival masterpiece while preserving its rich history. By honoring the architectural features and majestic shade trees, the landscape was revitalized to create a lush and vibrant environment. Careful selection and incorporation of diverse plant species added aesthetic value and enhanced biodiversity across the expansive two-acre property. Leveraging the presence of large shade trees, a unique microclimate was created, allowing for the cultivation of distinctive plant styles that thrived in their canopy. This project seamlessly integrated "revival" elements, preserving aesthetics and embracing a revitalized future, harmoniously blending lushness, color diversity, and the advantages of existing shade trees.

this Traditional-inspired kitchen remodel, we aimed to transition an outdated, warm-wooded space into a vibrant, expansive gathering spot with minimal layout alterations. By introducing new cabinets and adopting a fresh color scheme, we swiftly revitalized the area, giving it an added brightness and a sense of airiness. The key to the transformation lay in reimagining the layout – removing the counter barstool space and replacing it with an island instantly ushered in an open-concept plan, enhancing the kitchen's spaciousness and facilitating seamless movement within the area. What's remarkable about this renovation is that it leveraged existing elements while making only minor adjustments, yet the impact was nothing short of profound. Through thoughtful design choices, strategic modifications, and plenty of smart storage solutions, we achieved a complete new creation.

This room was rearranged in a pleasing fashion that also leveraged better use of the space.

Framed by mature trees and nestled within Sarasota’s historic McClellan Park, Sunset Place is a home shaped by a deep understanding of, and sensibility for, its setting—reflecting the charm of the neighborhood, the rhythm of downtown living, and the client’s vision of entertaining, connection, and family life. Every decision—from site strategy to spatial flow—was made with intention: to support a lifestyle centered on warmth, community, and a strong sense of place.
At its core, the project is a masterclass in leveraging zoning and code to unlock the full potential of a complex site. Though landlocked, the home lives like waterfront—offering openness, privacy, and expansive sunset views. Placing the pool in the front yard, within the 25-foot setback, redefines the entry experience. It captures the western light and sets a relaxed, resort-like tone from the very first step inside the gate. Paired with a rear-loaded garage, accessed discreetly via the side setback, the layout transforms the site’s limitations into its greatest assets. Architecture and landscape take center stage, while the full buildable envelope is maximized without compromise.
A natural rise of eight feet from front to back—rare in Sarasota—was embraced as an opportunity. Site walls function as both retaining structures and architectural elements, elevating the pool terrace and entry by over four feet to align with the main interior floor level. The result is a fluid connection between indoors and out: kitchen, dining, and living spaces unfold onto the terrace, blurring boundaries and enhancing everyday rituals as well as social gatherings.
Architecturally, the home is coastal contemporary: open yet composed, airy yet grounded. Clarity in the massing tells a story of the inhabitants from the first glance, while the interior planning offers spatial generosity and ease. The interiors echo this sensibility with a palette that is soft, natural, and tactile—serene without being neutral. The landscape design provides a lush tropical frame, softening edges and reinforcing privacy through layered plantings rather than enclosure.
Ultimately, Sunset Place is not defined by any single gesture, but by the way the home reflects its owners. Their gracious, family-centered nature informed every layer of design—resulting in a space that feels deeply personal, tailored for connection and ease, and perfectly suited for gathering, unwinding, and watching the sun slip behind the trees from the comfort of home.

The Laurel Park Panorama is a relatively well-known home that sits on the edge of a mountain overlooking Hendersonville, NC. It had eccentric wood choices a various challenges to over come with the previous construction.
We leveraged some of these challenges to accentuate the contrast of materials. Virtually every surface was refreshed, restored or updated.
The combination of finishes, material and lighting selections really makes this mountain top home a true gem.

Function meets form in the Delta House, which incorporates innovative building solutions for our challenging rural Canadian climate. Perhaps more akin to aeronautics than architecture, biomimetic processes drove the problem-solving approach while seeking multiple functions for each component. A typical Canadian home grows up and out of the site, exposing more of the facade to the elements. Instead of building up, the focus here was to make better use of the lower level. A section of the house was dug out on the south side, making room for three main glazed boxes. The spaces and bedrooms of a typical second floor were transferred to the more protected basement, thus lowering the volume of conditioned air within the dwelling.
To minimize energy losses through the glazing, ATA centralized the windows on the south side of the building, while minimizing the glazing on other facades. The centralized windows became the “three sisters” allowing the winter sun into the main floor and lower level of the house. The aerodynamic delta shape of the building was tested in a wind tunnel and was designed to minimize energy loss due to contact with the turbulent winter wind. The sisters are tilted 10 degrees towards the sun, leveraging the properties of glass as a reflector, when the sun is at a high angle of incidence in the summer.
The house also contains an innovative thermal mass battery in the basement slab and a connected radiative masonry fireplace. Excess heat, gathered at the top of the tent-like roof is directed down and reheated through the chimney before being drawn into the basement slab for storage. Openings in the floor areas ensure the energy is equally distributed throughout the dwelling.

A soaring conservatory was created out of a small pre-existing footprint for the Mrs. of the house. An avid reader and gardener she envisioned a unique, Mary Englebreit style for the space including heart shaped adornments on the mullions and stairway balustrade. A heated floor was installed for year round comfort and outdoor plants that winter here. A corner potting station with sink and built in seating area with bookshelves leverage space and become part of the fabric of the interior facade.

To provide this protection for the stairs down to the patio area, Kulyk Outdoors designed a smaller pergola zone using the solid fixed-roof Azenco R-Shade. Attaching the pergola to the home ensured complete protection against the sun’s rays, creating fulltime shade and rain protection to allow the homeowners to traverse the stairs without concern for the weather. To cover the grill station, Kulyk Outdoors leveraged another Azenco R-Shade zone that jutted out over the grill area. The insulated sandwich panel roof was supported by two pergola columns which sat atop a masonry wall that gave the grill area some definition and provided a housing for the natural gas hookups for the outdoor kitchen.

This new construction residence in the prestigious Stonebriar Creek Estates embraces refined rustic elements with transitional styling to create a beautiful classic home full of luxury features. We designed this home from the ground up, selecting all finishes and fixtures. We had a blast co-creating with the homeowners to attain their perfectly designed dream home. One of our favorite parts in the home are the exquisite Panoramic doors which span across the back of the house to let the outdoors in with visual impact and allow viewing the beautiful backyard from all of the first floor main rooms. Even better, the door panels can be positioned in a variety of ways to allow a completely open back of the house or in strategic ways to direct traffic flow when entertaining a large number of guests. Another show stopper is the kitchen island stone, a semi-precious find that uniquely captures all of the homeowners’ favorite colors and will be leveraged throughout the future furnishings.

The homeowner was eager to update her dated kitchen into a modern yet functional space for both entertaining and cooking. The DEANE team worked to deliver a sophisticated, industrial vibe, leveraging unique materials and memorable accessories. The kitchen was outfitted with the full suite of SubZero/Wolf appliances and accessories to create a true chef’s kitchen for this family of six. The 48” range with griddle was a necessity, in addition to a convection oven, steam oven, and warming drawer. The decision was made to dedicate a refrigerator column to beverages with an independent ice maker by the beverage bar.
The white powder-coated convex hood is accented with polished stainless steel metal strapping. It is flanked by cabinetry columns with integrated LED lighting on either side, which have been recessed into the wall, projecting slightly to feel like professional displays. Satin stainless steel drawer fronts with polished trim for dramatic effect shine on the lower cabinetry on the cooking wall as well as the display and upper cabinetry on the opposite wall, adding a mix of transitional white cabinetry for warmth and variety. The backsplash is a 2 1/2 x 10 1/2 ceramic tile installed in a contemporary ‘stacked’ pattern, balanced by Calacatta quartz countertops. A finishing touch was to replace wood floors with 2×2 ft porcelain tiles that are warmed by radiant heat.

This residence represents the dynamic collaboration between artist and architect. The architectural experience seeks to unite the tactile warmth of earth and clay with the compositional elegance of craft. Against a textured canvas of linen and limestone, light is leveraged to bring dimension and life to the architecture on every level.
Through the radical embrace of nature, guests are greeted by a 16’ tall Australian Brachychiton tree as they enter the double-height entry. The home is organized around a large, outdoor courtyard which creates fluid continuity and access between the indoor and outdoors. From a chandelier of ceramic bells to a locally sourced, custom dining table, every major element has been calibrated to add to timeless composition of the home.

NanaWall opening glass wall systems are customizable to the functional and aesthetic needs of every home. Window-door combinations are offered in aluminum, wood, and clad frames and can be installed in folding or stacking configurations. For this project, the system was customized with outswing panels to maximize counter space and with dark anodized bronze frames to match the home’s existing fenestration. A low profile saddle sill was paired with the floor-to-ceiling system to facilitate transitions between the indoor and outdoor living spaces while the window system leverages a raised sill for optimal weather performance. The result is a dynamic, functional kitchen that conveniently transforms with windows and full-height folding window doors that operate independently or in conjunction, depending on the needs of the homeowners.
