photos by Pedro Marti The clients hired us to overhaul a dated post war apartment on the upper Eastside of Manhattan. The clients wanted an open kitchen so we removed the wall separating the standard galley kitchen from the living area letting all the light from the adjacent glass terrace doors enter the kitchen. We also extended the footprint of the kitchen to create a large eat-in counter. The kitchen has a white on pale grey color scheme with custom white lacquer cabinetry, light grey wood grain base cabinetry, and light grey and white quartz counters and backsplash. The white and grey scheme continues in the powder room where a small white carrera marble and stainless steel wall hung sink is surrounded by a pale silver/grey grasscloth wallpaper. The master bathroom has a large dark wood double sink vanity with custom mirrored cabinets above that have tv’s within the mirrored glass. The master bathroom is tiled with a white thassos marble mini brick pattern pattern on the floors, a large white thassos marble wall tile, and dramatic white and black linear veined marmara marble wall tiles inside the shower. In the ensuite guest bathroom similar large white thassos marble tiles clad the wall with a custom grey and white glass mosaic inset behind the vanity and inside the tiled niche. Pedro Marti

Although our empty nester clients were still enjoying their custom home they had lived in for nearly 30 years, they had outgrown their once state-of-the-art 1980s master bathroom. Our master bathroom facelift transformed a bathroom with carpet, wallpaper, glass block tiles, and a 30 year old Jacuzzi. It transformed into a clean lined, yet warm and inviting space that still worked with the home’s contemporary architecture. Our selections started with a natural stone for the vanity, and selecting Sapele wood cabinetry for both it’s textured lines and color qualities. Our next step was our hardware and fittings – knowing we wanted both function and visual appeal. We relocated the double vanities at the center of the room, and installed the shower on the other side of the wall creating a circular passage for flow. The integrated sinks make a statement at the vanity – as well as the large apron of stone surrounding the face of the cabinetry. Wall mount faucets, and matte textured tile running vertically complete the look. The free-standing vessel tub leaves a lasting impression against the windows. Corner cabinetry and shelves add both storage and visual appeal. Tucked in the corner an upholstered bench, yet more storage and built in jewelry organization. Large format porcelain floor tiles were installed with a smooth skimstone application on the shower floor. Amenities and special touches in the bathroom include radiant heating, LED lighting under the cabinets and behind the vanity mirrors, a large format thermostat controlled towel bar, a linear drain in the shower, and a wall mounted energy efficient toilet. We completely transformed a traditional Brooklyn bathroom at 2363 E 18th St. into a modern, spa-inspired sanctuary. The full-gut overhaul replaced dated arches and pink wall tiles with sleek Porcelanosa large-format porcelain tiling, a curbless glass walk-in shower with dual rain and handheld showerheads, an Infinity linear drain, and a custom shampoo ledge. High-end upgrades include a floating wood-grain vanity topped with Caesarstone Raven quartz, dual recessed Robern medicine cabinets with chrome sconce lighting, an ambient under-vanity LED nightlight, heated flooring, and a TOTO Neorest dual-flush bidet toilet. Complete with fresh plumbing and electrical rerouting, recessed ceiling fixtures, and an insulated frosted glass window, this project blends clean contemporary design with maximum everyday comfort.

Vaulted cedar ceilings and triangular clerestories bathe white oak and graphite finishes in soft light, while a linear hearth anchors the open living–dining core. The reimagined kitchen hides the daily clutter with a concealed appliance garage and a grain-matched door to the laundry, keeping surfaces calm. Full-width sliders dissolve the boundary to a terrace designed for gatherings. Three new bathrooms—each tailored to its user—pair refined materials with serene lighting to deliver sophisticated, restorative spaces.

Kitchen Transformation: The kitchen layout is completely reworked for improved flow and functionality. Major appliances have been reassigned for efficiency: • The refrigerator is built in and anchors the focal wall providing improved access to both prep and serving areas. • The range has been centered on the back wall, framed by two- toned cabinetry and a low-profile custom hood accented with brass that blends seamlessly into the wall for an understated look. • The dishwasher and sink have been relocated to the new central island, allowing for uninterrupted views across the room and better interaction with guests or family. At the heart of the space is a large central island, topped with Taj Mahal quartzite in soft beige and taupe tones. The island serves as a multi-functional hub. The cabinetry is custom-built in white oak, finished in a matte clear coat that highlights the wood’s natural grain. Hardware is kept minimal, in brushed brass for a touch of subdued elegance. Natural Palette & Materials: The entire space embraces a natural color scheme—warm whites, layered pastel beiges and natural wood tones—accented with natural stone. Leathered Taj Mahal backsplash with subtle texture adds quiet visual interest without overpowering the calm atmosphere. Family Room Integration: The kitchen flows effortlessly into the family room, unified by wide-plank oak flooring and soft lighting. A fluted marble-clad fireplace anchors the space, surrounded by, built-in shelving with the same oak finish inside as the kitchen cabinetry. Furnishings follow the same philosophy: clean lines, neutral fabrics, and a mix of soft textures. Think boucle armchairs, a deep linen sectional, and a reclaimed wood coffee table. This Bonita Bay kitchen was updated in white perimeter Dura Supreme cabinets and complemented with MSI Calacutta Clara quartz countertops, featuring a milky-white backdrop and gorgeous long linear veining. The quartz countertops are paired expertly with a Tesoro Arctic Matte tile backsplash, the ripple effect which creates movement and greets spectators with a simple, contemporary style. Bringing warmth and sophistication to the space, our clients chose a complimentary transitional, medium brown Dura Supreme cabinet stain (Morel) that features a touch of gray used on the island, open shelves, and oven hood. This beautiful hand-rubbed, stained finish enhances the natural character and grain of the wood species and expertly ties the ceiling beam into the living room space. Completing the look are two aged brass pendants by Capital Lighting that hang above the oversized island, as well as new Bosch appliances and Provenza hardwood flooring that seamlessly blend the open living space together.

By streamlining layout and materials, it creates a serene, deliberate environment where simplicity speaks volumes.
