An updated master bathroom in a vintage 1900 cottage. The plinth based freestanding tub gives an original vintage feel to the room and the modern glassed-in shower adds 21st century amenities with a corner bench, rain shower head, hand held sprayer, and matching decorative grab bars providing safety features. Although the tile looks like marble it is actually easy care porcelain. Cabinetry and beaded wainscoting was designed to look original to the period and all moldings were matched to the homes original. Walk-in shower with bench replaced the tub in this small ensuite bathroom. Marble mosaic floor and backsplash tiles, and large white bloc shower tiles ensured the space was light. Custom vanity, shelf and medicine cabinet dramatically improved storage and functionality. Designed for shower glass to be added , homeowner prefers shower curtain for ease of access to towels behind entry door.

What makes a bathroom accessible depends on the needs of the person using it, which is why we offer many custom options. In this case, a difficult to enter drop-in tub and a tiny separate shower stall were replaced with a walk-in shower complete with multiple grab bars, shower seat, and an adjustable hand shower. For every challenge, we found an elegant solution, like placing the shower controls within easy reach of the seat. Along with modern updates to the rest of the bathroom, we created an inviting space that's easy and enjoyable for everyone.

This bathroom was remodeled for wheelchair accessibility in mind. We made a roll under vanity with a tilting mirror and granite counter tops with a towel ring on the side. A barrier free shower and bidet were installed with accompanying grab bars for safety and mobility of the client.

With an eye toward accessibility, this bathroom is designed to ease the everyday routines of a homeowner who often uses a wheelchair. Universal design strategies guided the project structurally with ADA-compatible elements incorporated throughout. One side of the vanity is set lower and left intentionally open underneath to accommodate the wheelchair when needed. Visually, the project shines just as bright with white shaker-style cabinetry balanced by warm tones found elsewhere. Oversized warm gray porcelain wall tile partners beautifully with a diminutive square tile on the shower floor, while brushed nickel hardware and quartz countertops complete a timeless, classic appeal.
