This residence had been recently remodeled, with the exception of two of the bathrooms. Michael Merrill Design Studio enlarged the downstairs bathroom, which now has a spa-like atmosphere. It serves pool guests as well as house guests. Over-scaled tile floors and architectural glass tiled walls impart a dramatic modernity to the space. Note the polished stainless steel ledge in the shower niche. A German lacquered vanity and a Jack Lenor Larsen roman shade complete the space. Upstairs, the bathroom has a much more organic feel, using a shaved pebble floor, linen textured vinyl wall covering, and a watery green wall tile. Here the vanity is veneered in a rich walnut. Here is one more detailed view of the teak-wood floor mat, custom-made by Caribbean Teak & Lumber Supply in Florida. Carefully-planned and hand-constructed to fit the shower, it's the perfect addition to soften the space. Our clients love how the teak gives off a great, woodsy scent when wet from the shower water! A wall-mounted shaving mirror is an extra touch of convenience for daily grooming.

When we first looked at this space we were so baffled by so many of the layout choices that were made. For instance the teeny tiny corner neo angle shower and the dropped soffits with less than ideal lighting. We decided a double vanity was a must, along with a large shower and a design that was not trendy, but gave some much need style. We brought in Landmark Remodeling, and as a team brought a creative design to life. We have some features such as the pre existing ledge we made a "niche" and then a second "bench" that allowed for shaving and solved a structural issue with a skylight above. All the behind the scenes planning worked out perfectly!
