Ann Kenkel had to decorate the house in a manner which was coastal enough so owner's felt like they were on vacation yet formal enough for the style of the house. AK found the house filled with wallpaper from the 1980's. Wallpaper from every room was removed and all trim had to be painted a neutral color. The formal dining room only had one entry. AK opened up a second entry into the dining room which provided a view of the Chesapeake Bay. Creating an indoor/outdoor connection was paramount for the master suite. This was to become the owner’s private oasis. A vaulted ceiling and window wall invite the flow of natural light. A fireplace and private exit to the garden house provide the perfect respite after a busy day. Mid-sized eclectic girl medium tone wood floor and brown floor kids' room photo in New York with multicolored walls

Faced with the challenge of limited wall space, this primary bedroom had only one prospect for bed placement. Adjacent walls consist of a parade of windows paralleling a working fireplace. To achieve the cozy oasis desired, the walls were hand-painted with a horizontal brushstroke to cleverly resemble grass cloth. A custom-built headboard upholstered in a cut velvet fabric is a soft backdrop for the hydrangea-printed pillows. Brass swing-arm wall sconces free-up space on the petite bedside tables. A chenille covered settee nestles the foot of the bed and is flanked by a pair of turned-wood arm chairs. The ottoman wrapped in zebra print, hair-on-hide upholstery delivers a smidgeon of whimsy. The quaint retreat offers an elevated boutique-hotel ambiance at day's end for the happy homeowners.

When there's not enough walk-in closet space in your master, consider a wall unit in your bedroom. Each box has drawer storage and hanging for your wardrobe. Painted a beautiful soft blue with integrated LED lighting and accented with brass hardware it's the perfect solution when you're short on closet storage!

In this lovely, luxurious master bedroom, we installed the headboard wallpaper with a white and gold pattern, and painted the walls and trim in a fresh soft white. Gold accents tie everything together!

We borrowed square footage from the bedroom to create a luxurious en suite bathroom. In order to make sure the bedroom didn't feel too small, we created a cathedral ceiling that soars all the way up to the underside of the roof. While we lost square footage on the ground, we added volume, and so the bedroom retained an airy feel. To support this airiness, we painted the entire room white. Nightstands were thrifted and painted a deep shade of hunter green, which, when paired with the wood bedframe and the honey brown colors of the rug and bedding, add warmth to the otherwise neutral space.

Bedroom - transitional bedroom idea in Baltimore

In this guest room intended for grandchildren sleepovers we saved an inherited rock maple bedroom set from being heaved by having everything painted with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in a color combination meant to also save the oriental-style rug. New coverlets from The Purple Rose Home and custom Roman shades and pillow shams from Simply Windows pull the burnt orange shades from the rug. Wall art from the client's vast collection of inherited keepsakes from generations before adorn the walls.
