Built from the ground up on 80 acres outside Dallas, Oregon, this new modern ranch house is a balanced blend of natural and industrial elements. The custom home beautifully combines various materials, unique lines and angles, and attractive finishes throughout. The property owners wanted to create a living space with a strong indoor-outdoor connection. We integrated built-in sky lights, floor-to-ceiling windows and vaulted ceilings to attract ample, natural lighting. The master bathroom is spacious and features an open shower room with soaking tub and natural pebble tiling. There is custom-built cabinetry throughout the home, including extensive closet space, library shelving, and floating side tables in the master bedroom. The home flows easily from one room to the next and features a covered walkway between the garage and house. One of our favorite features in the home is the two-sided fireplace – one side facing the living room and the other facing the outdoor space. In addition to the fireplace, the homeowners can enjoy an outdoor living space including a seating area, in-ground fire pit and soaking tub.

A porcelain vein-cut travertine look-alike covers this formerly dark brick wall and the brass fireplace was replaced with a more contemporary gas unit. Limited space called for a narrow shelf rather than a deep hearth. Carpet was removed and replaced with hardwood.

This family space focuses around a gas fireplace with a custom, handcrafted blackened metal surround and floating hearth bench. The wall is clad in Venetian plaster with a recessed TV niche. The living room in this mid-century remodel is open to both the dining room and kitchen behind. Tall ceilings and transom windows help the entire space feel airy and open, while open grained cypress ceilings add texture and warmth to the ceiling. Existing brick walls have been painted a warm white and floors are old growth walnut. White oak wood veneer was chosen for the custom millwork at the entertainment center. While having floor to ceiling glass to 2 different views of the desert, this master bedroom still maintains a feeling of intimacy, thanks to the dropped ceiling connecting the bed and the fireplace. The fireplace and dropped ceiling are clad in a raked texture plaster, while the fireplace surround is featured in blackened steel and floats on the wall with no hearth. The TV pops up from the chest at the foot of the bed.
