A young family moving from NYC to their first home in Westchester County found this pre-war colonial in Larchmont New York in need of a serious overhaul. After a complete gut job and rework of the entire home, they created a compact, vibrantly colorful kitchen open to the family room. o A nautical indigo color was chosen for the island and tall storage cabinets, with a subtle warm gray on the perimeter
o Natural walnut shelving and countertop on the peninsula evoke a mid-century vibe which relates to other vintage furniture pieces in the home
o Colorful cement tiles were carried all the way up the counters to inject pattern and whimsy
o Brass fixtures and hardware strike a handsome contrast with the deep indigo color scheme. Architect: Greg Lewis, Lewis and Lewis, Larchmont NY

This character-filled century home bathroom received a complete redesign by removing a closet and moving the toilet to create a larger shower area. Designer Michelle Bortolotto gave the room a fresh, modern feel while maintaining the house’s innate charm. Exposed wooden beams offer structural support with a wonderful rustic touch, drawing the eye to the unique tiled shower.
The vanity installed is Waypoint LivingSpaces 650F Cherry Java with a toilet topper cabinet. The countertop, shower curb and shower seat is Eternia Quartz in Edmonton color. A Kohler Fairfax collection in oil rubbed bronze includes the faucet, towel bar, towel holder, toilet paper holder, and grab bars. The toilet is Kohler Cimmarron comfort height in white. In the shower, the floor and partial shower tile is WOW Craft Vintage subway tile and 12x12 Slaty, multi-color tile. On the floor is Slaty 2x2 mosaic multi-color tile.

This gray and transitional kitchen remodel bridges the gap between contemporary style and traditional style. The dark gray cabinetry, light gray walls, and white subway tile backsplash make for a beautiful, neutral canvas for the bold teal blue and yellow décor accented throughout the design.
Designer Gwen Adair of Cabinet Supreme by Adair did a fabulous job at using grays to create a neutral backdrop to bring out the bright, vibrant colors that the homeowners love so much.
This Milwaukee, WI kitchen is the perfect example of Dura Supreme's recent launch of gray paint finishes, it has been interesting to see these new cabinetry colors suddenly flowing across our manufacturing floor, destined for homes around the country. We've already seen an enthusiastic acceptance of these new colors as homeowners started immediately selecting our various shades of gray paints, like this example of “Storm Gray”, for their new homes and remodeling projects!
Dura Supreme’s “Storm Gray” is the darkest of our new gray painted finishes (although our current “Graphite” paint finish is a charcoal gray that is almost black). For those that like the popular contrast between light and dark finishes, Storm Gray pairs beautifully with lighter painted and stained finishes.

This sitting area is just opposite the large kitchen. It has a large plaster fireplace, exposed beam ceiling, and terra cotta tiles on the floor. The draperies are wool sheers in a neutral color similar to the walls. A bold area rug, zebra printed upholstered ottoman, and a tree of life sculpture complete the room.

Both the master bath and the guest bath were in dire need of a remodel. The guest bath was a much simpler project, basically replacing what was there in the same location with upgraded cabinets, tile, fittings fixtures and lighting. The most dramatic feature is the patterned floor tile and the navy blue painted ship lap wall behind the vanity.
The master was another project. First, we enlarged the bathroom and an adjacent closet by straightening out the walls across the entire length of the bedroom. This gave us the space to create a lovely bathroom complete with a double bowl sink, medicine cabinet, wash let toilet and a beautiful shower.

Sliding doors lead onto a tucked away patio area with wood clad wall. Texture and materials create an exciting space with a contrast to the large format grey floor tiles. Exposed brick walls are a great way to make a feature in any space this client did not want to use brick slips so real brick was exposed and the variation in tones makes for a warm and dynamic dining area.
The wrap around glazing and slot window makes the space feel lightweight without overexposing the area.
Wall Colour - Farrow & Ball Strong White.
Floor tiles - Worlds End Tiles (Around £45sqm)

"We joke that our style is the Bryan and Catherine Mashup because it really is a compromise of both of our styles,' explains Catherine. "If Bryan were to do a house and I were to do a house, they would likely come out different."
Gutted and completely redesigned, the bathroom is a perfect compromise between Bryan and Catherine's seemingly opposite design preferences. "I would say my style is more eclectic," Catherine explains. "I like curvy lines whereas Bryan likes things straight and sleek and clean."
By keeping the color scheme consistent throughout the space, the elements work together seamlessly. Plain square tiles exude a vintage vibe when offset into a subway pattern and set against dark grout, while stainless penny tiles and open storage lend an industrial quality to the room. The addition of a chandelier and flowy shower curtains soften the space, exemplifying the definition of their style.

Hartley Hill Design
When our clients moved into their already built home they decided to live in it for a while before making any changes. Once they were settled they decided to hire us as their interior designers to renovate and redesign various spaces of their home. As they selected the spaces to be renovated they expressed a strong need for storage and customization. They allowed us to design every detail as well as oversee the entire construction process directing our team of skilled craftsmen. The home is a traditional home so it was important for us to retain some of the traditional elements while incorporating our clients style preferences.

Inspiration for a mid-sized timeless master white tile marble floor bathroom remodel in Dallas with a console sink and gray walls
Inspiration for a mid-sized timeless master white tile marble floor bathroom remodel in Dallas with a console sink and gray walls

A hidden gem tucked away in Atwater Village, the home has been renovated a time or two in ways that obscured its original charms. As is sadly often the case with homes of its era in Los Angeles, the kitchen and bathroom were completely gutted at some point and filled with builder-grade finishes unaligned with the inherent architecture of the home. On such jobs, our modus operandi is to reinfuse the spaces with details that harken back to the very best elements of the home’s original style while weaving in timeless touches of both modern life and the personality of the homeowner. In the bathroom, this method resulted in an eclectic, feminine heart-to-heart between the unruly imperfections of the handmade and the more orderly lines of the meticulously tailored. And what else could come from such a love story but a blue dream of a bathroom fit for a mermaid?

Backsplash: American Olean blue glass mosaic from Lowes, customized with some special ordered green tiles. Cabinets: Canyon Creek hickory cabinets with "Dune" finish.
