H&H, Amy Griffith of Broken Box Designs, and interior designer Vida Shore teamed up to transform a series of chopped up, under-utilized rooms into a open communal space. The team added a substantial beam in the ceiling and removed multiple walls to create a larger kitchen and more connected living space. This late 70's ranch style home was recently renovated with a clean, modern twist on the ranch style architecture of the existing residence. AquaTerra was hired to create the entire outdoor environment including the new pool and spa. Similar to the renovated home, this aquatic environment was designed to take a traditional pool and gives it a clean, modern twist. The site proved to be perfect for a long, sweeping curved water feature that can be seen from all of the outdoor gathering spaces as well as many rooms inside the residence. This design draws people outside and allows them to explore all of the features of the pool and outdoor spaces. Soft blue color palette, reminiscence of the snow just outside the window. The blue provides a nice contrast to the rest of the home. Wood-clad walls were unchanged by the design team. We love the rustic, natural element that is original to the home. The wood walls throughout the home add so much character – they’re great. Custom built-in bunks were designed by the LU design team. "Its all about the view!" Our client has been dreaming of redesigning and updating her childhood home for years. Her husband, filled me in on the details of the history of this bay front home and the many memories they've made over the years, and we poured love and a little southern charm into the coastal feel of the Kitchen. Our clients traveled here multiple times from their home in North Carolina to meet with me on the details of this beautiful home on the Ocean Gate Bay, and the end result was a beautiful kitchen with an even more beautiful view. The entry door to the laundry was converted to a pocket door to maximize floor space available for storage, and open shelving below the folding table provides ample storage for laundry baskets. The glazed floor tile was infused with Microban®, an antimicrobial solution, to provide long-lasting protection from bacteria and other harmful microbes in the high-use laundry room.
