We created a custom she room/home office for the lady of the home. Custom millwork with lots of built in storage. The custom bench doubles as a nap area.

This screened in porch was our new addition to the house. The porch swing was custom made to insure that it was long enough to nap in. Floor and ceiling are made of Fir while the walls are pine.

There's no need to be in this room if you can be on the beach, but come in for a cozy nap on a rainy afternoon if you must!

This is truly more than a mud room! Attached to the family room with french doors, its accessible but can be separated for teen hang out, sports equipment, puppy naps, gardening prep. As kids have grown up, seller enjoys for storage, reading the news, sunning. We added fun pillows to the bench to compliment sellers kelly green wishbone chairs.

We already spend a great deal of time on the back porch, we are both war vets (Iraq and Afghanistan) and so we often sit out back and regularly sleep/nap outside, its where we feel the most secure and at peace. For their daughters’ room, David and Dawn chose blackout Hunter Douglas Duette® honeycomb shades with a LiteRise® operating system. LiteRise® allows them to raise and lower the shades without cords, imperative for child safety. The shades hold securely in any position — there’s no need for constant adjusting. The shades were mounted floor to ceiling to block light when lowered. Blackout drapes were again used to capture any light seeping in from the side of the shades. Now two and half years of age, their daughters are still taking two hours naps! David and Dawn credit the restful atmosphere created by their window treatments for this parenting miracle.

The chance to build a lakeside weekend home in rural NC provided this Chapel Hill family with an opportunity to ditch convention and think outside the box. For instance, we traded the traditional boat dock with what’s become known as the “party dock”… a floating lounge of sorts, complete with wet bar, TV, swimmer’s platform, and plenty of spots for watching the water fun. Inside, we turned one bedroom into a gym with climbing wall – and dropped the idea of a dining room, in favor of a deep upholstered niche and shuffleboard table. Outdoor drapery helped blur the lines between indoor spaces and exterior porches filled with upholstery, swings, and places for lazy napping. And after the sun goes down… smores, anyone? This extensive home renovation in McLean, VA featured a multi-room transformation.
