A larger foyer was created by removing a cumbersome millwork unit. Folding glass panels open the new kitchen to the view. Two, discrete bathrooms were created from one large one. All mechanical and electrical systems were updated, and each of the windows replaced to meet stringent preservation requirements. THE PLANNED BATHROOM. | The modular Symetrics system opens up new perspectives in interior design for architects and planners. Symetrics comprises numerous individual modules for the entire bathroom area, which are tailored to a defined grid size. The modules can be arranged and combined freely within this grid. Because the spouts and controls are clearly separate, the overall appearance of the bathroom is redefined by the arrangement of the modules. Planning is based on a grid of vertical and horizontal reference lines. This grid also specifies the dimensions for the individual Symetrics modules, on the basis of a 60 x 60 mm base unit. | Available at www.shopstudio41.com

This property came with a house which proved ill-matched to our clients’ needs but which nestled neatly amid beautiful live oaks. In choosing to commission a new home, they asked that it also tuck under the limbs of the oaks and maintain a subdued presence to the street. Extraordinary efforts such as cantilevered floors and even bridging over critical root zones allow the design to be truly fitted to the site and to co-exist with the trees, the grandest of which is the focal point of the entry courtyard. Of equal importance to the trees and view was to provide, conversely, for walls to display 35 paintings and numerous books. From form to smallest detail, the house is quiet and subtle.

Forces of weathering play a prominent role in determining the building palette and the decision to expose the structural system so plainly. The textured surface and color of the shingles closely resembles the bark of trees in the northern woods and the rich, warm tones of the exposed timber frame, its heartwood. The bronze of the weathering copper references the site’s numerous oaks. Wearing deepening patinas with each passing year, the house becomes more and more a part of the surrounding environment. Ohio Exteriors installed a LivingSpace Transitions 4 season custom cathedral style sunroom that measured 12' x 16'. we installed the custom vinyl windows. We tied into the existing roof, and matched the existing shake siding. We extended the existing HVAC system. We also installed new French doors.

Crystal Kitchen + Bath provided the design for this Kitchen and Dining Room in this modern dream home located in El Paso, Texas. Being that it was new construction, we were given a blank canvas to design within the large, open space. The sleek, glossy white slab cabinet doors contrast nicely next to the rough, textural stone wall in the adjacent Family Room. High ceilings add to the wide open look of the room and allowed us to stack the cabinets up to 108” high. There are numerous accessories and storage systems within the cabinets to keep everything organized and in place.
