James Dixon Architects (JDA) has brought calm to this building project on Copake Lake from the first moment we spoke to them. It all began when we called their offices and met Valerie after doing some research and looking through portfolios. Valerie is the office manager and such a delight! Following our call with Valerie, we spoke to Jim, Founder of JDA, and took him through our vision. We knew right away after that call with Jim that JDA was the right fit for us. The synergy and feel good moments continued when we met Matt and Jesse who are wonderful architects, collaborators, and visionaries. Their attention to detail, creativity, and ability to execute has been everything we had been asking for. Not only do they listen and implement your ideas, but they were always willing to take us through their ideas to improve the project and maximize the design. We relied on them heavily to understand functionality, new trends, materials, and great design ideas. They have a great vision for the project and continue to amaze us with their creativity. The team continues to coach us through all decisions as their communication is superb. We have felt informed and connected on every step of the building process from bidding out builders, to picking out materials as well as weekly updates from the site. We are mid-way with the construction of our project and we can’t wait for the next steps building and designing together. We move into the lake home in the Fall of ‘22 and know our home will meet all of our dreams. From the moment we met James (Jim) Dixon we knew that we wanted him and his team to design our new home in New York's Hudson Valley. We contracted with James Dixon Associates (JDA) to design our home as well as oversee and project manage the construction process. The design process we went through with the team was not only highly professional but also such a very enjoyable experience! We always looked forward to the design meetings because of the collaboration of each one of the architects on the team and their ability to listen to and incorporate our every wish. Each member of the team has a tremendous amount of talent and creativity and they all suggested details we had never considered but that have made the design uniquely ours. We are about 6 months from completion of the project. Jim or his team have been on the site weekly since the construction began, making sure that no detail is missed. We receive a weekly Field Report with photos which has been particularly important to us since the Covid 19 situation has limited our ability to travel to the site. Jim and his team have done a spectacular job ensuring that the vision we and they had is being executed flawlessly. Their communication skills, attention to detail and overall professionalism is no doubt why the project is going so well. And, the icing on the cake, they are all just such terrific people and fun to be with! We could not recommend Jim and his associates more highly.
