Situated on the west slope of Mt. Baker Ridge, this remodel takes a contemporary view on traditional elements to maximize space, lightness and spectacular views of downtown Seattle and Puget Sound. We were approached by Vertical Construction Group to help a client bring their 1906 craftsman into the 21st century. The original home had many redeeming qualities that were unfortunately compromised by an early 2000’s renovation. This left the new homeowners with awkward and unusable spaces. After studying numerous space plans and roofline modifications, we were able to create quality interior and exterior spaces that reflected our client’s needs and design sensibilities. The resulting master suite, living space, roof deck(s) and re-invented kitchen are great examples of a successful collaboration between homeowner and design and build teams.

Private areas are an important part of this property's landscape design. Thoughtful plantings screen other houses from view, while multiple levels and flat natural steps provide the owners with numerous plans to relax, entertain and enjoy the views. Bruce Luetters/Drive Brand Studio

Bright white cabinets can make a large space feel even larger. With the natural light entering in the through the large windows, the kitchen feels bright and airy. This design provided numerous surfaces and work areas; perfect for all cooking and prep work needs. The stainless steel appliances create a sleek and clean look that will allow this design to remain timeless.

When creating the doorway and working on old wall we discovered this fireplace that had been built originally yet covered for at least 100 yrs!!! All fireplaces in main house [5] including cooking fireplace were restored, dampers added where missing and a ceramic sprayed liner applied to the numerous flues.

Completed in 2015, this project incorporates a Scandinavian vibe to enhance the modern architecture and farmhouse details. The vision was to create a balanced and consistent design to reflect clean lines and subtle rustic details, which creates a calm sanctuary. The whole home is not based on a design aesthetic, but rather how someone wants to feel in a space, specifically the feeling of being cozy, calm, and clean. This home is an interpretation of modern design without focusing on one specific genre; it boasts a midcentury master bedroom, stark and minimal bathrooms, an office that doubles as a music den, and modern open concept on the first floor. It’s the winner of the 2017 design award from the Austin Chapter of the American Institute of Architects and has been on the Tribeza Home Tour; in addition to being published in numerous magazines such as on the cover of Austin Home as well as Dwell Magazine, the cover of Seasonal Living Magazine, Tribeza, Rue Daily, HGTV, Hunker Home, and other international publications. - Purchased as a newly completed spec home built by Robert Elliott Custom Homes, the beauty of the steel windows let in an abundance of light. We chose to add personality of the family by painting numerous walls, adding layers of wallcovering in majority of the spaces, replaced light fixtures and carefully designed each room with touches of geometry to continue the classic approach.

The unique contours of the home were blended seamlessly into the surrounding natural beauty of the lakeside setting. db Landscaping LLC worked with the builders to create unique landscape features and accents. We planted numerous varieties of native plants to complement the natural surroundings. Beautiful native landscape stone was used throughout the property, adding a timeless elegance to the walkways and patio spaces.
