Scheurer Architects and Keller Homes designed a beautiful, award-winning community on a mountainous site located just outside Colorado Springs, Colorado. Their goal was to create something special by presenting fresh, new site plans within the local housing market while remaining sensitive to the traditions and benefits of rustic, mountain living. In order to remain true to the area in which the property is located, they made a joint effort to maintain the simple warmth and agricultural base found in the surrounding communities.
Three unique floor plans and living space designs were developed and had an average 2,667 square feet in size, with 2 bedrooms/2 bathrooms and full basements. There was a focus on indoor and outdoor living, reminiscent of historic village homes that were organized in clusters to maximize space, preserve views, and encourage spending time in nature.
Since the land was originally occupied by a dairy farm, the dynamic teams found existing stone on an old barn as well as retaining walls and wanted to incorporate these old stones into their new design. However, that meant that they needed to find just the right stone for the homes in an effort to blend the existing stone not only with the new stone, but also with stone that was being used for landscaping purposes. Eldorado’s blend of Fieldledge and Hillstone combined with the custom overgrout technique added the authenticity that the project called for.

With all those people in the house, we had to get creative with the bathrooms and washrooms – again to accommodate lots of people (mostly kids) washing up and brushing teeth. Poaching space from the former exercise room, we designed a timeless, black and white bathroom using subway, and penny round tiles. The custom mirror above a large trough sink provides a shelf for toiletries and two cut outs for old-fashioned Mason jars – to hold a fistful of toothbrushes.

Old World European, Country Cottage. Three separate cottages make up this secluded village over looking a private lake in an old German, English, and French stone villa style. Hand scraped arched trusses, wide width random walnut plank flooring, distressed dark stained raised panel cabinetry, and hand carved moldings make these traditional buildings look like they have been here for 100s of years. Newly built of old materials, and old traditional building methods, including arched planked doors, leathered stone counter tops, stone entry, wrought iron straps, and metal beam straps. The Lake House is the first, a Tudor style cottage with a slate roof, 2 bedrooms, view filled living room open to the dining area, all overlooking the lake. European fantasy cottage with hand hewn beams, exposed curved trusses and scraped walnut floors, carved moldings, steel straps, wrought iron lighting and real stone arched fireplace. Dining area next to kitchen in the English Country Cottage. Handscraped walnut random width floors, curved exposed trusses. Wrought iron hardware. The Carriage Home fills in when the kids come home to visit, and holds the garage for the whole idyllic village. This cottage features 2 bedrooms with on suite baths, a large open kitchen, and an warm, comfortable and inviting great room. All overlooking the lake. The third structure is the Wheel House, running a real wonderful old water wheel, and features a private suite upstairs, and a work space downstairs. All homes are slightly different in materials and color, including a few with old terra cotta roofing. Project Location: Ojai, California. Project designed by Maraya Interior Design. It’s always a treat to work with homeowners that have a clear idea of how they want their kitchen to look and be used.
These homeowners wanted their kitchen to have an old fashion look to it, so we left the cabinet brackets exposed and the cabinet knobs were left unfinished.
The kitchen has a long breakfast bar, perfect for when the homeowners have family and friends visit.

This formal traditional dining room contains a curated collection of the family's treasured antiques, seamlessly interwoven with new elements, such as the floor-length draperies and the black wrought-iron chandelier.
WKD’s experience in historic preservation and antique curation restored this gentleman’s farm into a casual, comfortable, livable home for the next chapter in this couple’s lives.
The project included a new family entrance and mud room, new powder room, and opening up some of the rooms for better circulation. While WKD curated the client’s existing collection of art and antiques, refurbishing where necessary, new furnishings were also added to give the home a new lease on life.
Working with older homes, and historic homes, is one of Wilson Kelsey Design’s specialties.

Revitalize, update, and addition on a 1920's Old California home, thought to be a real George Washington Smith in Ojai, California. Wide, thick plaster arches, old farm paintings, comfortable, ranchy furniture give this place a real old world Spanish charm. Hand kotted antique rugs and fine bench made new furniture reflects the original style of Santa Barbara, CA, giving the sense this place is completely original. And much of it is, although it has been completely revamped, adding a larger stair case, wide arches, new master suite including a sitting room with a tv. Maraya Interiors completely changed the kitchen, adding new cabinetry, a blue granite island, and custom made terra cotta tile in multiple shapes and sizes. The home has a dining room for larger gatherings, and a small kitchen table for intimate family breakfasts. A high living room ceiling has been imitated in the new master suite with very large steel windows through out.

Bedroom - eclectic master dark wood floor bedroom idea in Orange County with blue walls

Who said that a Burbank bungalow home needs to be doll and old fashioned.
In this Burbank remodeling project we took this 1200sq. bungalow home and turned it to a wonderful mixture of European modern kitchen space and calm transitional modern farmhouse furniture and flooring.
The kitchen was a true challenge since space was a rare commodity, but with the right layout storage and work space became abundant.
A floating 5' long sitting area was constructed and even the back face of the cabinets was used for wine racks.
Exterior was updated as well with new black windows, new stucco over layer and new light fixtures all around.
both bedrooms were fitted with huge 10' sliding doors overlooking the green backyard.
