You don't have to spend a fortune to get an elegant look. The leather chairs and the dining table are both from Value City Furniture in our area. The chairs were $200. each and the table and chairs were only $700. The Owners didn't want to spend a fortune so they can possibly replace the items in 10 years and not feel guilty. They also have a house full of kids all the time and didn't want to fuss over the furniture. Linda Parsons

New window seats add seating and storage to the space. We added thick new moldings for architectural interest; dark hardwood floors provide additional warmth. The vintage chandelier draws color from the nearby ocean and adds a spark of color and interest.
Solid wood Parsons dining table and bent wood chairs provide an interesting mix of geometric shapes and textures. The sisal rug grounds the area and adds another natural element.
Window seats were added to create much-needed additional seating and extra storage space.

Mid-Century Remodel on Tabor Hill
This sensitively sited house was designed by Robert Coolidge, a renowned architect and grandson of President Calvin Coolidge. The house features a symmetrical gable roof and beautiful floor to ceiling glass facing due south, smartly oriented for passive solar heating. Situated on a steep lot, the house is primarily a single story that steps down to a family room. This lower level opens to a New England exterior. Our goals for this project were to maintain the integrity of the original design while creating more modern spaces. Our design team worked to envision what Coolidge himself might have designed if he'd had access to modern materials and fixtures.
With the aim of creating a signature space that ties together the living, dining, and kitchen areas, we designed a variation on the 1950's "floating kitchen." In this inviting assembly, the kitchen is located away from exterior walls, which allows views from the floor-to-ceiling glass to remain uninterrupted by cabinetry.
We updated rooms throughout the house; installing modern features that pay homage to the fine, sleek lines of the original design. Finally, we opened the family room to a terrace featuring a fire pit. Since a hallmark of our design is the diminishment of the hard line between interior and exterior, we were especially pleased for the opportunity to update this classic work.

An historic California house designed by Henry Gutterson. Unique architectural details and floorplan characterize this mediterranean gem.

Our Kadur blown glass chandelier shines brightly in this modern Manhattan loft space. Pendants are made from hand-blown glass orbs with drizzled glass orb in center. Color shown: Clear/White Drizzle.

A home office with a bright energized vibe. The reflective zebra striped wallpaper and the satellite chandelier make this a fun but serious space for working. The lucite desk chair and custom cabinetry with contrasting gray trim add a glamorous touch. Photography by Peter Rymwid.

Living room.
The custom made Knole sofa was made extra deep so it can be used as a bed for an overnight guest. The Parson style bookcases supply some much needed book storage. The antique map sets the stage for the room. The walls are white to create a gallery like setting so the individual pieces are well defined.

Dramatic red walls set the tone for this elegant transitional dining room. Paired with white linen parsons and winged captain chairs, a double pedestal acacia dining table anchors the space. The simplicity of the parson's chairs related to the detailed molding of the room. A large wooden round mirror balances the three-door credenza under.
