The rich color of the autumn landscape help to add mid-tones to an otherwise high contrast facade. The north east facing Japanese is the star of this yard.

Inspiration for a large transitional wooden u-shaped staircase remodel in New York with painted risers

BRIEF: The brief for this Ealing garden was to create screening for a large new secondary school being built on land at the end of the garden but also an opportunity to redesign the space. The brief included a new path and dining terrace, water feature, garden building, stumpery and a request for rich-textured materials and surfaces.
DESIGN SOLUTION: The final design includes a brick path using dutch clay pavers, corten steel cantilevered walkway / pergola, new corten water feature as a focal point to the space and a ‘modern stumpery’ created using large charred oak cubes, planted with ferns and other shade-loving plants. At the end of the garden, sound-proof fencing has bene included with a row of large Magnolia grandiflora as boundary screening.

Installation of red Ferricrete driveway, turning circle and parking hardstand to transform the front yard of this rural property. Hardscaping and landscaping included the recycled stone gardens and the installation of feature rocks in richly mulched gardens. All areas were carefully planned to meet and edge existing paths, structures, and lawns with tidy finishes.

With a limited budget, we were able to transform and update this front garden with a new modern pathway and small patio using full range Connecticut bluestone. Bulbine frutescens 'Hallmark' was planted along the pathway in mass. A variety of other low-water and low-maintenance plants. The black mulch completes this modern landscape design transformation. I included a selection of plants that provide a variety of heights, colors and textures. A great alternative to water- thirsty lawns, especially important for Northern California gardens.
