This city penthouse in San Francisco required a complete renovation to create a sleek,sophisticated urban abode for a successful, busy bachelor. We designed and executed many custom built in elements including a built in sofa which also houses a hidden television that rises with a touch of a button. A floating bench suspends diners in the dining room. Layers of subtle luxury swath this penthouse including silk rugs, wood veneer wall covering, and silk velvet fabrics. Inspiration for a small transitional white tile and subway tile alcove bathtub remodel in Los Angeles with dark wood cabinets, white walls, an undermount sink and flat-panel cabinets

This space was completely empty, void of everything except the flooring tiles. All the containers and plantings, the patterned turf in the flooring, ornaments, and fixtures were part of the design. It spans three sides of the penthouse, extending the dining and living space out into the open. Outdoor rooms are created with the alignment of fixtures and placement of furniture. The custom designed water feature is both a wall to separate the dining and living spaces and a work of art on its own. A shade system offers relief from the scorching sun without permanently blocking the view from the dining room. A frosted glass wall on the edge of the kitchen brings privacy and still allows light to filter into the space. The south wall is lined with planters to add some privacy and at night are lit as a focal point.

We joined forces with JHL Design’s Holly Freres and Liz Morgan to transform a dark and dated Pearl District penthouse into an elegant and timeless home. The space was designed with European metropolitan interiors in mind, giving it the “Parisian Modern” look the clients desired. The team replaced cherry casework and red and ochre walls with clean white and neutral shades to brighten the space. The new applied wood paneling serves as an interesting architectural detail while modern fixtures and furniture keep it from feeling too traditional. The project also included new casework, new wood floors and carpet, new terrazzo countertops, new vanity and plumbing fixtures, and reworked cabinetry in the kitchen and pantry.
