There never seems to be enough room for outdoor gear. Even a modest mudroom, however, goes a long way in introducing order to what is often a messy jumble of coats, boots, and backpacks. A mix of open and closed storage - cubbies for shoes, hooks on the walls, drawers for off season items - provide multiple storage solutions. Even a recycling cabinet found a place in this hardworking corner of the kitchen.

Our clients on this project, a busy young North Vancouver family, requested that we incorporate some important inherited family heirloom pieces into their spaces while keeping to an otherwise modern aesthetic. In order to successfully mix furniture of different styles and periods we kept the wood tones and colour palette consistent, working primarily with walnut and charcoal greys and accenting with bright orange for a bit of fun. The mix of an heirloom walnut dining table with some mid-century dining chairs, a Nelson bubble light fixture, and a few nature inspired pieces like the tree stump tables, make for a finished space that is indeed very modern. With a sleek metal base and a solid hardwood top, this Industrial Steel Pedestal Table with a Hexagon top is sure to make a bold statement in your kitchen. Paired here with our Mia Dining Chair, which features postwar period design inspirations that mix with mid-century Danish-American styling to elegant effect.

White, gold and almost black are used in this very large, traditional remodel of an original Landry Group Home, filled with contemporary furniture, modern art and decor. White painted moldings on walls and ceilings, combined with black stained wide plank wood flooring. Very grand spaces, including living room, family room, dining room and music room feature hand knotted rugs in modern light grey, gold and black free form styles. All large rooms, including the master suite, feature white painted fireplace surrounds in carved moldings. Music room is stunning in black venetian plaster and carved white details on the ceiling with burgandy velvet upholstered chairs and a burgandy accented Baccarat Crystal chandelier. All lighting throughout the home, including the stairwell and extra large dining room hold Baccarat lighting fixtures. Master suite is composed of his and her baths, a sitting room divided from the master bedroom by beautiful carved white doors. Guest house shows arched white french doors, ornate gold mirror, and carved crown moldings. All the spaces are comfortable and cozy with warm, soft textures throughout. Project Location: Lake Sherwood, Westlake, California. Project designed by Maraya Interior Design. From their beautiful resort town of Ojai, they serve clients in Montecito, Hope Ranch, Malibu and Calabasas, across the tri-county area of Santa Barbara, Ventura and Los Angeles, south to Hidden Hills.

a 1916 Craftsman in Oakland, CA gets new life. A complete overhaul of the original space while preserving all of the original detail in the casework and flooring. Overhead lighting (LED!) enhances the homeowners beautiful art collection, custom sized furniture provides increased seating and loads of texture and warmth, reducing any clutter. While remodeling the fireplace and adding period appropriate mantle detail, original windows were revealed, bringing more natural light into this illuminated living/family room.

Hired mid demolition, Regan Baker Design Inc. partnered with the first-time home owners and construction team to help bring this two-bedroom two-bath condo some classic casual character. Cabinetry design, finish selection, furniture and accessories were all designed and implemented within a 6-month period. To add interest in the living room RBD added white oak paneling with a v-groove to the ceiling and clad the fireplace in a terra cotta tile. The space is completed with a Burning Man inspired painting made for the client by her sister!
