The project involved removing walls, creating a new entrance to the home, adding new archways, and addressing all the aspects an Interior Designer assists with: New color palette, flooring, lighting, furniture, and accessories. The goal was to transform the space into an open-concept living area that seamlessly blends functionality with elegance. I began by consulting with the client to understand her vision and preferences, ensuring that every detail would reflect her personal style while still maintaining the character of home. To create a welcoming entrance, we designed a foyer with custom-built storage solutions and a striking feature wall. The addition of graceful archways added a touch of architectural interest, drawing the eye and giving the home a sense of grandeur. This also matched the archway that existed in the original layout of the home. Our team carefully selected a palette of calming neutrals and warm accents, complemented by high-quality materials and finishes with punches of color where needed. We met about five years ago, we started talking, I gave a price and nothing really happened. After about two months I went back to her and then she said to me, "Well, I think we'll get on." And ... we started ... many sketches, I send, she returns and so on for a short period of time. Even in the advanced stages things were very dynamic out of the need of both of us to be involved in all the little details. The result is a special home for a special woman. Part of the house was designed so that he could connect and disconnect according to the needs of the landlady and her daughters. Most of the contents of the house and its accessories were imported personally from China - from the carvings and the sweeps - through the lighting, the kitchen and most of the carpentry, and of course the furniture and even the aluminum. The house is located at the end of the moshav and turns north to the fields and banana groves, so that most of the windows of the house look like rustic countryside. The planning process was such that it was clear that we planned a lifestyle, not just walls. I am of course biased, but it seems to me that the result is not the same as anything else. You know by now we love designing in Bend, and Caldera Springs just feels like home! This project, (a collaboration with Olsen Bros. Construction and Heidi Byrnes Design) is the “forever home” for a couple relocating from Lake Oswego. Soaring wood ceilings, open living spaces and ample bedroom suites informed the client’s classic/modern finish choices. The furnishings aesthetic began with fabric to inspire pattern and color, and the story for each room unfolded from there. The great room is dressed in deep green, rust and cream, reflecting the natural palette outside every door and window. A pair of plush sofas large enough to nap on, swivel chairs to take in the view, and unique leather ottomans to tuck in where needed, invite lounging and conversation. The primary and back guest suites offer the most incredible window seats for cozying up with your favorite book. Layered with custom cushions and a pile of pillows, they’re the best seat in the house. Exciting wallpaper selections for each bathroom provided playful focal walls, from the deep green vinyl grass cloth in the primary bath, to a forest of sparkling tree lines in the powder bath. Amazing how wallpaper can define the personality of a space! This home is full of color, yet minimal in the “extras” and easy to maintain. It’s always refreshing for us to return to a home we dressed months ago and have it look just like we left it!
