Pineapple House designers replaced the client's old-school theater with a modernized configuration that includes polished walls, speakers hidden behind mesh grates, multi-levels with steps, oversized loungers and over-scale seating and a bar. Motorized drapery is integrated in the crown molding. When activated, the blue panels open and expose the 150” screen while simultaneously closing over the entrances into the room. Balancing act! The elongated table in this sitting area in the main living room is offset to allow for passage from the fireplace area. Notice how the table is not centered in the window. The asymmetrical positioning is minimized by centering the dark, elongated painting in the middle of the window. As well, an ottoman is positioned under the table, and is pushed to the left, which also is balanced by the contrasting painting in the center of the window above it. Chris Little Photography

This new construction was located in an unbelievably gorgeous but remote area on a small island that did not allow cars. Access to the site was by boat or a sled driven across an iced-over lake in the winter months. It was necessary to cross international borders to reach the setting, so this was an exciting but difficult project logistically. To our delight, the clients asked that we control every interior aspect -- the complete architectural interior package, as well as the furnishings. They wanted a home that would define a new architectural style for the region, which was dominated by rugged, lodge-like, Adirondack-style homes. Chris Little Photography
