Our Genoa Bay Custom Home sits on a beautiful oceanfront lot in Maple Bay. The house is positioned high atop a steep slope and involved careful tree clearing and excavation. With three bedrooms and two full bathrooms and a powder room for a total of 2,278 square feet, this well-designed home offers plenty of space. Interior Design was completed by Andrea Burrell Design, and includes many unique features. The hidden pantry and fridge, ship-lap styling, hallway closet for the master bedroom, and reclaimed vanity are all very impressive. SHIPPING TRANSPORTATION FIRM We were hired to design offices for a company that provided shipping throughout the US and Canada, provided local and regional trucking, and provided warehouse receiving and storage in a 370,000 sq. ft. storage facility. The client was primarily interested in upgrading the existing reception area and conference room to make a positive impression on prospective clients. We provided finishes, furnishings, art, and wall treatments for this job. The client had an existing glass conference table with cherry legs and we designed a custom wall unit of cherry, added conference chairs, and provided art that was related to the transportation industry. One image is of the Tall Ships in the Norfolk port. The client opened a section of one wall to give clients a view of the massive storage area. In the Reception room, we installed custom panels in a wave design behind the desk (from modulararts.com), built custom cabinets, and provided furnishings and art. The coffee table is a working clock to represent the significance of timeliness in this demanding industry. We also designed the signage and layout on a clear acrylic background with chrome stand offs.

Multiuse home gym - contemporary blue floor multiuse home gym idea in Los Angeles

The design of this home drew upon historical styles, preserving the essentials of the original movement while updating these elements with clean lines and modern materials. Peers Homestead drew upon the American Farmhouse. The architectural design was based on several factors: orientation with views and connection to seasonal water elements, glass cubes, simplistic form and material palette, and steel accents with structure and cladding. To capture views, the floor to ceiling windows in the great room bring in the natural environment into the home and were oriented to face the Spanish Peaks. The great room’s simple gable roof and square room shape, accompanied by the large glass walls and a high ceiling, create an impressive glass cube effect. Following a contemporary trend for windows, thin-frame, aluminum clad windows were utilized for the high performance qualities as well as the aesthetic appeal. (Photos by Whitney Kamman)

To provide a large gathering space for this modern family and to facilitate the flow of movement throughout their house, Morpurgo Architects designed additions that are contextually compatible with our clients’ landmark Dutch Colonial stone home. Although we were constrained by the typography of a hill behind the house, we succeeded in integrating with the original structure a centrally located family room with connections to three levels of activity, including the kitchen, the second-floor bedrooms and the new garage. An exterior balcony on the second floor punctuates the facade overlooking the courtyard, ideally positioned to capture views of the setting sun. High sloped ceilings follow the profile that distinguishes the Dutch Colonial roof lines. The creation of a two-story space allowed us to design large windows over pairs of doors that frame vistas of the tree line and highlight the impressive hill. In granting approval to this notable home, the Borough’s Landmark Commission unanimously endorsed Morpurgo Architects’ sensitive placement and integration of the additions to this historic structure.
