We rebuilt the upstairs including reconstruction of the existing bathroom to make an impressive master bathroom and dressing room, and refinished the hardwood floors to preserve the details that tied back to the home’s 1937 roots. Midcentury Warmth Meets Farmhouse Calm in This South Hadley Kitchen Surrounded by fields, flowers, and horses, this peaceful South Hadley kitchen blends colorful cabinetry with clean, modern function. Designed in collaboration with Valley Home Improvement and interior designer Mary Moore, the goal was to create a space that felt fresh, grounded, and easy to live in. We combined maple plywood cabinetry with two custom wood wax finishes: a soft, muted purple on the tall pantry cabinets (our exclusive Mallow Flower color), and a natural clear wax on the island and hutch to keep things airy. The contrast adds both lightness and depth, bringing quiet personality to the room. To help the kitchen flow into the dining area, we added tall MCM-inspired cabinetry with exposed plywood edges. The design keeps things practical, while also adding warmth and texture — a nod to midcentury design sensibilities. Thoughtful touches like open shelving, handmade ceramics, and curated art bring color and meaning to the space. But the heart of this project is in the functionality: every drawer, pullout, and shelf is tailored for daily life, making it easy to stay organized and relaxed. This kitchen feels just like the family who lives here — calm, creative, and deeply intentional.

One of the most transformative changes in this bathroom renovation was the introduction of a transom window where previously there had been no natural light at all. Positioned intentionally high within the space, the new window allows sunlight to flood the room while still maintaining complete privacy. The placement also creates a peaceful connection to the outdoors, offering framed views of the surrounding tall trees without compromising functionality. Designed as a shared bathroom for two children, the layout was thoughtfully planned to support both beauty and everyday practicality. Two individual shower niches were incorporated to give each child their own dedicated storage space, helping the room remain organized and personalized. Every tile line throughout the space was meticulously aligned, with refined brass Schluter edges used to frame the niches and elevate the detailing. Large-scale 24"x48" porcelain tiles were used to clad the walls, creating a seamless, expansive feeling with minimal grout lines and a luxurious stone-like appearance. Because the room features impressive 9-foot ceilings, the design utilized four full horizontal rows of tile to maintain visual balance and avoid unnecessary cuts, reinforcing the clean architectural aesthetic. To soften the scale of the large-format tile and introduce additional visual interest, a custom mosaic tile detail was added at the base of the walls, acting as a modern interpretation of a traditional baseboard profile. Crown mouldings were then added at the ceiling line, bringing a tailored architectural finish to the room and enhancing the sense of height and refinement. Even the bathtub skirt was thoughtfully paneled to feel integrated and furniture-like, reinforcing the elevated, cohesive nature of the design. Warm brass fixtures throughout add richness and contrast against the soft stone-inspired palette, creating a bathroom that feels timeless, sophisticated, and highly functional for everyday family living.

The Deistel’s had an ultimatum: either completely renovate their home exactly the way they wanted it and stay forever – or move. Like most homes built in that era, the kitchen was semi-dysfunctional. The pantry and appliance placement were inconvenient. The layout of the rooms was not comfortable and did not fit their lifestyle. Before making a decision about moving, they called Amos at ALL Renovation & Design to create a remodeling plan. Amos guided them through two basic questions: “What would their ideal home look like?” And then: “What would it take to make it happen?” To help with the first question, Amos brought in Ambience by Adair as the interior designer for the project. Amos and Adair presented a design that, if acted upon, would transform their entire first floor into their dream space. The plan included a completely new kitchen with an efficient layout. The style of the dining room would change to match the décor of antique family heirlooms which they hoped to finally enjoy. Elegant crown molding would give the office a face-lift. And to cut down cost, they would keep the existing hardwood floors. Amos and Adair presented a clear picture of what it would take to transform the space into a comfortable, functional living area, within the Deistel’s reasonable budget. That way, they could make an informed decision about investing in their current property versus moving. The Deistel’s decided to move ahead with the remodel. The ALL Renovation & Design team got right to work. Gutting the kitchen came first. Then came new painted maple cabinets with glazed cove panels, complemented by the new Arley Bliss Element glass tile backsplash. Armstrong Alterna Mesa engineered stone tiles transformed the kitchen floor. The carpenters creatively painted and trimmed the wainscoting in the dining room to give a flat-panel appearance, matching the style of the heirloom furniture. The end result is a beautiful living space, with a cohesive scheme, that is both restful and practical.

This renovation focused on improving flow, function, and safety for a growing family with a newborn, while also enhancing the home’s exterior presence. Inside, interior walls were removed to open up the main living areas, creating better sightlines, improved natural light, and a more connected layout for everyday family life. The reconfigured space feels brighter, more spacious, and better suited to modern living. Two bathrooms were renovated as part of the project: A powder room was updated with clean, modern finishes and luxury vinyl flooring, chosen for its durability, comfort underfoot, and easy maintenance. The main bathroom was refreshed to balance practicality with a refined, timeless look. Special attention was given to the stairway, where upgrades were made with safety and comfort in mind—an important consideration for a household with a newborn. Improved finishes and details help make this high-traffic area both functional and visually cohesive with the rest of the home. The project also included exterior improvements, enhancing curb appeal and tying the updated interior to a refreshed, cohesive exterior look. Overall, this renovation blends thoughtful planning, durable materials, and family-friendly design to create a home that works beautifully now and well into the future.

The one-story contemporary overlooking a lake and bird sanctuary was a retirement dream - open spaces, expansive views and plenty of room to host grandchildren. While the location was ideal, the home needed help - especially the kitchen as it was dark and confining. Walls were removed and doorways expanded to ensure the kitchen would be the center of activity. The dining table was placed in front of the window and a skylight added bringing in sunlight. We offered our clients practical solutions for storage and space planning. Specific items needed to be accessible and handy to suit their lifestyle. Based on their valued input, we added tall pull-out pantry units and cabinets with “hidden” drawers. Storage was strategically positioned for easy drop off and pick up as our clients came and went. Dark-stained cherry cabinets and light quartz countertops provided the sharp contemporary contrast favored by our homeowners. After much collaboration, discussion, and careful planning, they are enjoying their remodeled home and kitchen where we know they will create lasting memories in their lakeside retirement retreat.

With help from my design-savvy client, I was able to create a stylish yet practical solution to her functional problems in the existing kitchen. The space was dark, cramped, and disorganized. While making dinner, she ran back and forth through a two-way door to communicate with her children in the family room. Backpacks and homework spilled into the kitchen and lights were on regardless of the time of day. To solve these issues, we opened up the wall between the family room to improve communication and bring in more natural light. A mud room was defined by adding walls near the back door. We raised the ceiling to the original height and the new opening was trimmed to match all existing openings for a seamless design. Making dinner has a whole new outlook with a custom island that faces the family room and the warm southern sunlight. We finished it off embracing current trends with grey cabinets, marble counters with backsplash, brushed brass hardware and open shelving.

This stunning bathroom renovation in Selkirk is one of our favorites recently. The custom ledge in the shower not only adds a touch of elegance, but serves a practical purpose as home for soaps, shampoos and other bathing necessities kept within easy reach.
