Originally used as a den, the art studio is separated from the primary residence and accessed by a stair landing to the basement and carport. Using this restricted access to advantage, the art studio is a space where serious work can be done without loosing the sense of connection to the remaining house.

Coronado Crush is a vacation home designed to feel just as comfortable and dialed-in as a primary residence. Our clients—a large, energetic family—purchased a Coronado retreat with great bones and strong design sensibility from the previous owner, but needed a full top-to-bottom setup to truly make it their own.

This custom piece was designed and built for a primary residence in Littleton Colorado. The project features a locally sourced, kiln-dried wood slab, selected from our Denver warehouse and fabricated into a modern, one-of-a-kind design. We collaborated closely with the design team to ensure the proportions, finish, and material details complemented the architecture and interior palette. The final piece combines natural wood character with clean lines, creating a timeless focal point within the space. This project reflects our approach to working with interior designers, and custom home builders who are looking for distinctive materials and a trusted partner for custom wood and metal fabrication.

Norwood House is a 55 year old center hall Georgian Revival style house that sits on an expansive piece of property across from the main campus at Kent Place School. The house and grounds are owned and maintained by the School, and serve as the primary residence for the Head of School and her family. The property is also used on occasion for school functions. Since there have been no significant improvements to the property since the 1980’s, we worked with the School to improve the entire house and surrounding grounds. Specifics included creating a mudroom between the garage and the kitchen, relocating the dining room and family room to improve the flow of the first floor layout, adding three pairs of French doors in the sunroom leading out to a new bluestone patio, gutting and redoing the kitchen, renovating all of the bathrooms, and refinishing the basement. The scope also encompassed various infrastructure improvements, including a new roof, new windows, new high efficiency HVAC and lighting, etc. For the project, we also worked closely with Frances Chester, a local Landscape Architect, on improving the property with new plantings, walkways, patios, driveway, lighting, etc. The school required that the project be complete by the beginning of the 2014 school year. We worked the Contractor, Owner’s Rep, and members of the Board of Trustees to have construction completed within 5 months, which was a very aggressive schedule for a project of this size.

Amanti Lago in Heber City, Utah is a new luxury community overlooking Jordanelle Reservoir, perfect for a primary residence or vaca home with endless recreational opportunities within an arm's reach

This project involves the renovation of, and additions to, a small guest house that is part of a larger residential compound. Originally designed by Fernau + Hartman Architects, this widely-published compound was completed in 1998 and is comprised of 22 different volumes within 7,800 square feet. The assemblage, containing a main house, guest house, and pool house, was commissioned by Gaston Caperton, the governor of West Virginia at that time. The main house served as a primary residence, a gallery of West Virginia art, and a rural retreat for friends, family, and colleagues visiting from Washington D.C. and New York City. It was an architectural icon designed for entertaining. Our clients are the second owners of the house and lifelong friends of the former governor. After living in the main house for 15 years, our clients wanted to make changes that would allow them to age in place on the property. The house’s 13 different levels made it physically challenging for them to continue living there safely. The goal of the project was to address the physical and perceptual challenges of aging in place, all while preserving and honoring the original design. The renovations and additions to the guest house created an accessible, one-bedroom house that accommodates the couple’s mobility, cognitive, vision, and balance challenges. Now that our clients have moved into the guest house, their son and his family will move into the main house.

This West Seattle specialties project was driven by an older couple’s vision to create an ADA-friendly DADU for future aging in place. Owning multiple homes in the area, their goal was to complete the build while they were still working and bringing in income, allowing them to rent out the space for additional income until retirement.
